Marve to choose Purdue or Tennessee

Former Miami quarterback Robert Marve will choose between a scholarship at Purdue and walking on at Tennessee early this week, his high school coach said Saturday. Marve said he'd leave Miami at the end of last season after losing the starting job to Jacory Harris. Robert Weiner, Marve's coach at Plant High School in Tampa, said Marve has taken his time because he is leery of making a mistake. Marve visited South Florida, Arizona State, Nebraska and Purdue. He called off visits to Texas Tech and UCLA because those schools liked their quarterback situations coming out of the spring.

Both schools have their fingers crossed for the other school to be chosen.

SVT has his fingers crossed that he picks one soon so his picture won't be in a cane uniform any longer.

This is almost as interesting as the Brett Favre soap opera. NOT!

May 18, 2009  08:17 AM ET

Svtjer predicted a Marve story on another thread this weekend. Maybe he has inside info.....or maybe he IS Marve....

May 18, 2009  08:21 AM ET

Marve, Favre, Marve, Favre. Battle of the overrated QB's.

Please pick a school. It will be marve-lous if there are no more stories on this topic.

Well we will get at least 1 more story once he actually picks the school... fortunate for us..

VFH... we know you want him... you not fooling us lol

I believe Marve has finally landed in my "most hated college football player ever" title.

May 18, 2009  10:18 AM ET

Just go get the scholly from Purdue and move on. You're not THAT good.

May 18, 2009  10:18 AM ET

It's a sad world when a bright young guy like you with all those pictures of comely young lasses wishes for no more Marve-Favre.

Maybe it's a personal tragedy too because I share the wish.

Bob Weiner, supported by his brother Neal have taken a keen interest in young Marve. Neal and Bob Weiner spent a great deal of time investigating Marve's high points and hanging issues, finding nothing particularly sticky coming from him that they couldn't digest.

lol, how did i know.. fannation couldnt resist, they just HAD to put up another Marve article..

Its amazing how close Purdue and Tenn are close to his dying dad in Tampa, FL isnt it..

Marve sucks, i feel bad for whoever signs this clown.. He wouldnt even stay and compete for his job.. sucker (not to mention he cant follow the rules or stay out of trouble)

Like GatorBaitor said, i cant wait for him to sign somewhere and suit up with his new gear, hes a disgrace to the University of Miami's uniform.

May 18, 2009  11:13 AM ET

btw, even the article proves he sucks..

He called off visits to Texas Tech and UCLA because those schools liked their quarterback situations coming out of the spring.

hes scared of competition.. what a biotch

I know our QB situation is wretched right now, but I still don't want him. Nor do I want what's his name that got booted from UF. I think we've reached our criminal quota so no thanks to the lap top thief.

Although Crompton sucks, at least I'm not worried about him being a whiny beotch like those other 2 may be.

May 18, 2009  12:37 PM ET

all signs are pointing to him choosing ut. let's hope purdue puts together a top notch, last ditch effort and convinces him purdue is the place for him. because knoxville will be better off without him.

Here's a hopeful thought-- maybe the problem with in-Cromp-etent last year was just coaching.
Remember the night-and-day difference between Ainge '05 and Ainge '06 when Cutcliffe returned?
(Crossing my fingers, toes, and nose hairs for better coaching to fix Crompton, or at least make him less-broken.)
