Another bid for Coyotes?

Another potential buyer has surfaced for the Coyotes, one that would keep the team in Glendale. An attorney for Las Vegas-based businessman John Breslow, who owns 3 percent of the Coyotes, said Wednesday that Breslow told the NHL he has formed a group interested in submitting a bid for the team. Attorney Scott Cohen declined to comment on reports that Breslow's group includes Coyotes coach Wayne Gretzky. Breslow served as Nebraska state auditor from 1991 to 1999 and was a Republican candidate for governor of that state in 1998. Breslow was waiting for U.S. Bankruptcy Court judge Redfield Baum to finalize bidding procedures before proceeding, Cohen said. The Breslow interest is separate from another potential purchasing group headed by Jerry Reinsdorf, owner of baseball's Chicago White Sox and the NBA's Chicago Bulls.

Here comes another Bettman hand picked guy. Lets start calling him "Boots" right now.

Not sure this guy can raise enough capital in time to purchase the team. Good luck to him, but Mr. Blackberry is still the favorite to buy the team.

QUOTE(#7):

Because it's cheaper than buying a winning team, because statistically teams in the basement can only go up (or sideways for a REAALLLLLY long time, but can't get much worse), because there's bound to be some sort of tax break in there somewhere, and because sooner or later that team will either move, implode, or suddenly put together a team that can make a deep Cup run and wake people up, and any of the 3 options lead to a return on investment, even if it's just in an ability to use it as a write-off. Or something.

May 21, 2009  06:23 PM ET

But yeah, you can bet that Buttman cooked this little deal up somehow...ooops, look at that typo I just made...I should be more careful, shouldn't I?

May 21, 2009  06:37 PM ET

The next bid must be 5 million dollars more than the previous to be legitimate. Unless you own ikea or have the name Oprah, Bill Gates or Jim Ballsilie good luck putting together 217 million dollars.
