Tennessee head football strength and conditioning coach Mark Smith is under strict review by coach Lane Kiffin and might not be with the Vols when summer workouts begin in June, a source told the News Sentinel. The specifics of the friction between Smith and Kiffin were not disclosed. Smith was still considered a member of UT's football team as of late Thursday night and had not cleaned out his office despite persistent rumors to the contrary within the football office and on the Internet.

Be thankful it's not a Marve article about how he turned down Kiffin.

Articles about various people mad at Kiffin, or vice versa, are growing tiresome by their sheer volume. How about if an investigative reporter tries to find, and write an article about, someone whom Kiffin has NOT alienated?

The strength coach, ay? I guess they can stop by Gold's and get another one pretty cheap...

May 22, 2009  08:06 AM ET

Amazing. I am beginning to think a UF alum runs this sight.

How about that juiced up guy with the freaky biceps!!

May 22, 2009  08:14 AM ET

That guy's a freak. Did you see how he drained his own arm...with a dirty needle? I'm pretty sure that it would affect the "ambiance" of the weight room, if this guy was in their screaming at Freshmen...

May 22, 2009  08:15 AM ET

Come on... Any other school (or more importantly... coach) and this would not be news.

May 22, 2009  08:19 AM ET

S L O W news day...they ran "story" on Jet's linemen making fun of Sanchez for his photo shoot...ummmmm....yeah....

"Sanchez pays for Offensive Line's dinner at nice steak house..." leaves 20% tip....

This guy has had quite a start in Knoxville. He might want to lay low for a while and just coach

May 22, 2009  08:42 AM ET

Kiffin just hired Mark when he started. Arrogance run wild or a poor job of evaluating talent before hiring him. Guys leaving or getting fired after six months doesn't say something positive. But do not worry. The AD likes all the press UT is getting. His view from the sand doesn't include the fact that his program is looking very foolish before a game is even coached by Lane.

Kiffin and Marve as first two articles. What a way to start the holiday weekend.
