Will Brown follow LeBron's advice?

LeBron James suggested Mike Brown give Sasha Pavlovic a chance. "I think Sasha can be huge for us," James said. "Mentally, if Sasha's in tune, he could be really good for us with his 6-7 or 6-8, 240-pound frame, he could really help us on the defensive end, and he's also an offensive threat. You just cannot leave him open on the offensive end because he can make shots. Mentally, if Sasha's in tune, which I think he can be, and if he's called upon, I think he can be really good for us. We need that type of active body on the defensive end who can take a little bit of the load of myself and Delonte. . . . We could use him out there." Said Brown, "Sasha is a guy we may consider."

Panic Button? Just checked box score from last game.........Sasha got DNPCD.

Playoff Stats = 5.4 minutes, 2 points per game.

The last time he went to the finals he was much more in "tune". This time round Brown's decision not to give Sasha an opportunity probably correlates with his regular season rotation pattern as well....he only played in 66 games and got 4.6 points in 16 minutes....

If Brown decides to Play him significant time from what Lebron says, his margin for error will be so small anyways...so i guess it's worth a shot but i doubt he will help them.

At least he needs to take Gibson's spot in the rotation. Gibson is undersized against the Magic and if he's not hitting his shots, well he's not out there for his defense. Problem with Sasha is he either looks like an all star or like he belongs on the 10 seat of the bench. There is very little middle ground with him, but he is an above average perimeter defender.

the last time a person named SASHA was good for ME was......well.....lol......you get it, boy was she good for me!!!

May 22, 2009  08:15 AM ET

Here is an idea: Lebron you go dunk a few and we'll let Brownie continue to coach.

May 22, 2009  08:17 AM ET

He's out of the rotation for Wally Sczerbiak, that's got to say something.

May 22, 2009  08:26 AM ET

Lebron is right in giving suggestion. He is the true PG, leader, coach, on the floor and he knows what the team lacks. The problem is that Brown didn't give Sasha playing time in the regular season and now he wants him to play some pressure minutes. It's tough but it's probably not the right time to panic also. Players that's on the floor really needs to step up especially Mo Williams. That's what they brought him for. Lebron did his part and more in game 1. He probably needs to get his teammates involve more and earlier in the game. I know there are those who is going to compare Lebron and Kobe again today. Lebron did his part and Kobe did his part but like I said the most important part is that the supporting cast have to show up.

Teams love it when one guy scores 50 points. That means everybody else is standing around watching LBJ. Good for the other team, bad for Cavs. Detroit used to let Jordan go off for 45 or 50 and Detroit would win. A balanced attack is much better for the TEAM than 1 guy getting off.

Secondly, if Sasha is your big savior, you're done! This guy hasn't been doing anything. Mo needs to step it up, but he may be getting a case of bad nerves, never having been this far before.

May 22, 2009  08:56 AM ET

What LeBron is saying, if you read between the lines, is that the bench just isn't getting it done. Joe Smith is the leading scorer off the bench at 7 points a game. Turkoglu and Lewis pose huge matchup problems for this team. If Pietrus, Lee or Alston have a breakout, the Cavs are in trouble. And in one of these games JJ is going to blow up.

um- LBJ if you're depending on him....you guys really are panicing

sasha ain't guarding either of those 2-
he's SMALLER than both
he ain't 6'7 OR 6'8 as the blurb states

Nothing wrong with LeBron's suggestion. He's at the point where he can make one but honestly I'm still a little dissapointed that he didn't look for the game winning shot in Game 1. I know he's the unselfish type but that moment was his moment and he just passed out of it.

He might not be 6'8 but he is taller and stronger and quicker than any other perimeter defender the Cavs have. Cavs adjustment should be Mo williams, Delonte West, Sasha, Lebron, and Z or Varajeo. Sasha can match up enough with Hedo, and Lebron can lock down Rashard Lewis, give Dwight Howard his 30. Although, Sasha has not been playing lets not forget he started on that 2007 finals team, and has supreme confidence in himself.

May 22, 2009  10:21 AM ET

I think the Cav players are double thinking they are not what the media put them up to be. they forgot that they have to earn int with listening to thier coach first, thats what he is being paid to do, dummies. you listen he does the talking and coaching, it doesn't matter who you are, how good you are, work as a team, no not cry!!!!, its takes hard ethic work, not show boating, selfishness doesn,t do it, never did, so stop your pointing fingers, you lost one game, on your so called can not be beat on our turf, well may be if you come to earth, what cha think the opposite team is going to do, lay down , championships are not won, they are thier TOO....for the best team to Stand at the end, that means go and get it and take. it and may the best team achieve the right to be called---- WORLD CHAMPIONS 2009----

May 22, 2009  10:32 AM ET

I agree to an extent. The thing about Pavlovic is that he is tall and he can shoot threes, midrange jumpers, and takes it to the hole. His versatility is harder to guard, and is harder to guard than West or Wally because he is taller. I think this means Wally is out. I do remember Sasha having a really good defensive series against Vince Carter in the past, so if this guy is in tune, is motivated, and can keep his head in the game, then give him a few minutes and see what he does.

May 22, 2009  10:40 AM ET

Thanks coach... and so it begins...

May 22, 2009  10:47 AM ET

LeBron is right on the money here. I was thinking the same thing myself. Wally Cz contributed nothing offensively, and he is too slow to guard the Magic 3 point shooters. Sasha is quicker and a better defensive player. And they need to start fouling Dwight earlier and oftener. Put in Darnell Jackon and tell him to foul HARD everytime Howard heads toward the rim.

May 22, 2009  10:50 AM ET

I have no problem with Lebron (or any player for that matter) saying this stuff but he needs to keep it in house and not in the public. It sounds like he disapproves of the coaching job and beat writers are going to have a field day with questions, columns etc... It adds another possible distraction that does not need to be there.

May 22, 2009  10:50 AM ET

yes thats right devo, Sasha is not shy about using all his fouls, although sometimes way too quickly. He wont be afraid to send dwight to the line.

May 22, 2009  11:10 AM ET

i say go with who is hot on offense and who is not a defensive liability. sasha could be the guy. i see nothing wrong with giving a guy a chance. at least some decent minutes to get him rolling to see what he brings. but i agree with #18 that these things should as much as possible be kept in house. send brown a text or something just keep it in house.
