Stars seeking scoring punch

The Stars say they have not targeted another free-agent winger but will continue to study the market. Among the scoring wingers available are: Brendan Shanahan, Bill Guerin and Martin Gelinas. The Stars also could take a flier on centers Peter Forsberg or Alexei Yashin to see if either could be jammed into a top-six role. However, Shanahan seems to be waiting to re-sign with the Rangers, Guerin has already been through Dallas and Forsberg is not sure if he's going to retire.

Jebus AP! First it was Brian Randle, then Assembly Hall, now this. That is NOT a picture of Peter Forsberg. It is former Preds captain Kimmo Timmonen.

So basically the Stars are trying to decide between a bunch of 35 year olds. Shanny still has some, but he'll be back in NY. Guerin's already been run out, Forseberg probably won't play or be healthy, and Yashin is... Yashin. So, Gelinas it is, rumor over.

Al Secord

Plenty of people care about hockey, no one cares about your stupid opinions. It shows everyone how pathetic you are bashing a sport that you do not like by spending your time putting comments up on this wall.

Yeah we know who Al Secord is...drafted by the Bruins played for like 11 years, having his best ones with the Blackhawks...so? There are plenty of people who care about hockey cause it is by far the most exciting sport there is. That point really cannot be argued. And the only reason why people here in America don't like it is because 1. it is not a sport people can just pick up anywhere, you actually need talent to even begin to think about playing the game and 2. the best hockey players are not Americans, which I guess is a problem for Al Secord for whatever reason. And Al how about you name the greatest sports moment in the 20th century for the US? 1980 ring a bell...was that a hockey game?

The NHL as an organization continues to dodge the true problem. At least 6 teams do not belong. It looks like The Stars are looking to sign a scorer from an old age home. Yashin looks like his glory days are over and is in his mid 30's, Shanahan is a very seasoned 37 years old, Forsberg (mid 30's) has only played 1 full season in his career and it was his second season in the league, Guerin is in his late 30's and has only had 1 season of 60+ points in the past 5 years I believe, and Gelinas (another 37 year old) has only had two 50 point seasons in the last 10. These guys should not still be in hockey. Back in the day they would not have been. The NHL's no touching rule allows them to continue to play and the competition is so bad because there are too many teams they get to stick on for 3+ more seasons than they should of. Yet another sign the NHL hasn't dealt with the REAL problem of small rinks and too many teams that waterdown the talent.
