Chelios dismisses 'anti-American' theory
Chicago native Chris Chelios, a former Blackhawks player and current member of the Red Wings, became the center of a hockey drama before the teams met in Game 3 in the Western Conference finals on Friday night thanks to his friend Jeremy Roenick. Roenick, a former Hawks player who often finds himself in the middle of controversy, said on "Monsters In the Morning" on Comcast SportsNet on Thursday that Red Wings coach Mike Babcock had anti-American hockey player sentiments and treated Chelios poorly. "JR is JR," Chelios said of the current San Jose Sharks player. "The NHL would be boring without JR. There's nothing to it." He said Roenick called him and apologized. Chelios gave Babcock an apple as a peace offering and the two said they have no hard feelings toward each other.
