Jackson, Bynum not speaking

It's not like the Lakers to have story lines of internal conflict -- oh wait, yes it is. This one might be minor compared with Shaq vs. Kobe, or Magic vs. Paul Westhead, but there's something going on between Lakers center Andrew Bynum and Coach Phil Jackson, and it's entirely unspoken. ackson has been frustrated by Bynum's lack of defense and rebounding, though he declined to speak in depth about him after Friday's practice. Bynum said he was more disappointed than angry and would talk to Jackson about his feelings only "if he approaches me."

lol....and thats the ONLY thing he can possibly contribute this year

I never was a Phil Jackson fan, but Bynum has not exactly earned more playing time. I don't think his team mates want to see him out there when it matters most. Instead of " speaking" with Bynum, he could just send him game tapes.

May 23, 2009  09:17 AM ET

They'll be alright. I don't think Bynum has returned in game shape. Phil is looking for the 20-10 guy. Carrying Playboy bunnys won't get you ready for basketball.

May 23, 2009  09:50 AM ET

Bynum NEEDS to step the "F" up. At this rate Bynum is still too much of a liability to have on the court in the fourth quarter. More than his play to me is his blazay attitude, he needs to get fierce, I think at this point Jackson would have more respect for him if he just walked onto the court, and just cold cocked somebody.

Someone wake this boy up!!!

May 23, 2009  09:57 AM ET

Can this possibly be true? I sense a smokescreen and Bynum will end up having a somewhat decent game today.

May 23, 2009  10:01 AM ET

They cannot win without getting production from Bynum in the post on offence but more importantly on defence.

it better hit fast...

i hate it when players get their contracts and then just start playing like crap. Lakers don't pay you 10 million to wait for your boss to tell you to work harder. They pay you 10 million so you make yourself better, and if you need advice to get better then you're paid to do it.

He has the potential, but during the game he looks so out of the game ..just cracking jokes when he's on the bench when the team is losing.

I don't think he understands that this is his job. Honestly, when you're taller than dwight howard and weigh 285, you should get a little more than 3 rebounds and 5 points in a series.

May 23, 2009  10:58 AM ET

Every interview he does "he can't help, if he's not playing". DO YOUR F_ _CKING JOB THEN YOU LAZY PIECE OF S_ _T!!

Kobe was right, we should have traded this lazy f_ _K! He is on his way out for sure.

I'm out here in LA and it just pains me to see all these Lakers fans thinkinh Bynum in the next Shaq or Jabbar. Face it Bynum is a mediocre to good center, anyone 7ft tall can grab a few rebounds.

Bynum will match up with a few teams during the regular season and get a 20 10, this playoff run he has been absent and when on the floor it is a 15 - 5 (15 minutes-5 fouls)

Bynum = Bust

May 23, 2009  12:47 PM ET

this is only the beginning. a lot of the team isnt talking to kobe anymore either. it has been leaked out about his handshake deal with the warriors. thats why kobe is yelling a lot at his teammates.

May 23, 2009  12:49 PM ET

nice picture of jackson. he looks like he is about ready to fart. or is it the team that is farting?

PhiSlamaTrailBlaze,

at least we are still contending for a ring while your Blazer team is fishing somewhere in Oregon. lol

How about a 7 footer comming from at partial teal or MCL and this is his only 18th game. Give kid a break. It is not Bynum's fault that no one can understand the rotation of Jackson in the playoffs. in game 2 Bynum had 9pts and 2 rebounds in the first half and then all of a sudden he was removed from playing in the second half. He was not in faul trouble. Bynum frustration is legit. Besides Fish and Gasol no one is looking to pass to Bynum in the block, how is this Bynum's fault. Moreover Jackson is being outcoached in playoffs for the better part of 2 seasons.

What?

This is the player that Kobe proclaimed last year that without him we are not a championship caliber. Please how is he lazy. If Phil come up and tells him you will play 10 minutes fist half and 10 minutes second half atleast that is communication. Bynum does not know when he will play and when he is not. Also most of his fouls came from point guards not able to keep opposing pg infront of them. That is why Bynum is in foul trouble most of the time. Team mates should look for him early in the game and set him up. In regards to the comment that he is lazy - what are you smoking? This is the kid who constantly works in the summertime with personal trainer to improve his conditioning as well as comming in the gym to work on his offensive game. Man I am upset with Lakers loosing but you cannot fault Bynum. Lakers need to get a better coach PERIOD. Maybe that way they can win some games.

Go to Hoopsworld.com and look at the daily communications with the NBA experts. You will see most of the questions that are dominated by Blazer fans comming up with stupid trade scenarios for their Alsakan expedition fishing team. SAD SAD SAD

Way to go Laker4Life. Bravo. What kind of crappy fan are you? I can't believe you don't understand how Phil Jackson works? You put the blame on other players too fast. Phil is psycho. He knows what he is doing w/ Bynum and he is trying to light a fire on his arse. Now you are going to treat Bynum like you treat Shaq. People keep saying that Bynum is the key and you agreed to that. The answer is not just Bynum but the whole team playing their best at the right time. Everybody is to blame and that's including Kobe. Stop mouthing off and stop blaming only one guy. You know what is stupid is that the Lakers game plan does not evolve around Bynum. If Bynum was given a chance to play and actually pass the ball to him down low on multiple occasions and he does not do his job then you can blame him all you want. Bynum does not get that much opportunities. Most of Bynum's points come from putbacks and passes from penetration. No plays are called for him. The lakers have the advantage at the low post but they are not taking advantage of it.
