Army AD upset with Notre Dame?

Army athletic director Kevin Anderson said he hasn't spoken with Notre Dame athletic director Jack Swarbrick on the possibility of playing at the new Yankee Stadium in the Bronx. "He hasn't talked to me about it," Anderson said. "I guess he's negotiating in the newspaper." Anderson said that for a game to be played at Yankee Stadium, he would need to negotiate with Army's opponents to move some games. "It's concerning that Notre Dame's athletic director would put something like that out without talking to me first to see what's on my schedule," Anderson said. Anderson added, "It's shocking for anybody to be talking about us playing in Yankee Stadium. The other thing is that it's alarming to learn about this from anybody but the Yankees. If there was going to be a football game and Army was playing in it, wouldn't a release be going out by the Yankees?" Swarbrick could not be reached for comment.

Dude, check yourself ... you're freakin' Army! Take whatever cash you can siphon off of ND and pray you can pull a Navy miracle.

Sorry, you it wrong. There's protocol and ND is not following it. ND believes it is bigger than anything or anyone. They are Army and that should be enough.

If I'm a military academy, I'm taking every opportunity to play Notre Dame right now. And I'm bringing some bio-weapons lab techs. There's got to be a way to weaponize Jabba the Weis' gaseous emissions and/or dung. Could secure our status as a superpower for decades.

On a more serious note, ND is pretty ****ing arrogant for a school with such a sucky football team, at least currently.

JRM, you jinxed it, yesterday. On the flip side, Weis threads are open season, and, therefore, healthy for the spleen.

May 24, 2009  10:27 AM ET

Kevin Anderson has a legitimate beef. Jack Swarbrick fracked up.

As long as the networks, stadiums and others continue to shower money on their program they will continue to take it. So would anyone else. Blame the "enablers...!"

Don't blame them for good business decisions. Get annoyed by unjustified arrogance.

Somebody prod GB off the couch. Posting to another Weis thread will aid digestion of his Cheerios.

May 24, 2009  11:19 AM ET

Ah, that classy Notre Dame... still living like they're the kings of college football. Wake up, it's 2009 and you haven't been relevant since 1980.

May 24, 2009  11:22 AM ET

The new yankee stadium has a ways to go in order to live up to the 'New Yankee Workshop' on PBS. Likely, revenues are needed, and that is what prompts management to entertain hosting a football game in a built-for-baseball stadium.

Gariboy, this dovetails into your point about ND's hoovering up available bucks. Even if the product on the field falls short of ND's storied past, if the rubes are willing to dole out for it, take the cash. Certainly, the exposure cannot hurt (They're already on TV every Fall Saturday.).

Army AD has it right. It's bad protocol. He's not saying he's opposed to it, or wouldn't do it--Army has a long standing tradition of regularly playing Notre Dame. But he also doesn't want to be treated like a kid, and understandably so. Like he said, there are other games on the schedule they would have to work with to make it happen as well. It's just a matter of respect

And all things aside...yes, "it's freaking Army". Some may argue that they deserve a little more respect than your typical university.

Yes they are and Weis is so overrated its pathetic!

Like an aging stripper still able to collect dollars from the guys in the seats, ND will milk it for as long as they can. Please, feel free to dog them for all of their faults, foibles, and indiscretions. Be assured that I will call NDers to task for BS the likes of Swarbrick's. Begrudge them the bucks, but understand why ND will garner all it can.

May 24, 2009  11:31 AM ET

Maybe ND hired Weis because he fit a profile (Insert profile comments here), and because top tier college coaches could be leary following the Willingham - O'Leary fiascos.

An aside: I helped to innaugurate a new drop zone yesterday. It's at an airfield that once played host to a DZ that was a favorite haunt of mine. The weather broke to allow one load to get up and out into the sky. As soon as we landed, heavy rains ensued and the beer lamp was lit. Many pictures were taken. Many stories were told. Certain rituals were observed (cannot be posted here).

When was the last time ND won a BIG football game?

May 24, 2009  12:09 PM ET

This is Army we're talking about. Who cares what Notre Dame thinks? How many divisions do they have?

LMFAO, Jabba the Weis. That is awesome. He strikes me as the guy who orders "one of everything except Thank You Come Again" and a DIET COKE. I though Phil Fulmer was a lard A** but this guy makes him look like Twiggy. I bet he needs a boomarang to put his belt on.
