07:59 AM ET 05.25 | NBA sources continue to indicate that the Los Angeles Clippers are entertaining offers for the No. 1 pick. Despite their initial comments made on draft night about having already decided to pick Blake Griffin, they are keeping all their options open for now. "From what I understand, they didn't want to sound uncertain on draft night, since that's a typical Clippers reaction. This is a very important time for them in terms of season ticket renewals, which is why they had that kneejerk reaction."

something tells me the Clips will mess this up big time.

Like I said before..."With the 1st pick in the 2009 NBA Draft, the Los Angeles Clippers PASS."

Sterling just wants to save money which is why he'll trade down more than once & Blake will end up in Oklahoma...the league will make them do it like they fixed the Patrick Ewing draft.

hello vaughn! are we the only ones wasting our time thinking or writting about the clippers?

May 25, 2009  08:44 AM ET

they should take the best they can get. in this draft it's griffin, but you are right that the clippers will mess this up in the sake of their skinflint owner trying to save money. they have had ample opportunities to do well in the draft and they continuosly drop the ball (no pun intended). it's sad and the league should take that franchise away from its dreadful ownership.

Whatever the Clippers do is almost guaranteed to be wrong. Failure is in their DNA. Even when they make moves that on the surface would appear to be right, they find a way to screw it up.

OKC should try to get involved in this deal somehow. It would be great for Griffin to play in Oklahoma and Griffin joining that great young nucleus would make the Thunder a really exciting team that could be a real threat in a couple of seasons.

The Clips should do Griffin a favor, like a bad mother who knows she's incompetent, and let the kid go live with somebody that can take care of him better, i.e THE LAKERS :-)

May 25, 2009  09:26 AM ET

this is the ultimate no-brainer... the clips need a front-line player to replace brand, and they can have griffin at rookie scale for a few years, even if they've no intention of inking him long-term. yep, too easy; they're bound to screw it up.

May 25, 2009  09:31 AM ET

just do it clippers all the players in this year draft average all nothing but future bench warmer as for griffin i see him as 6th man of the year coming off the bench for fill in for Marcus Camby.

May 25, 2009  09:34 AM ET

In order to save Griffin's career, they should trade him.

May 25, 2009  10:00 AM ET

The Clippers have more problems than just 1 player. Is Griffin a Kobe Bryant? LeBron James? Kevin Garnett? If so you have to take him 1st overall. But if he isnt going to be you should trade the pick.

May 25, 2009  10:00 AM ET

The Clippers are capable of anything, can't even imagine what these youngsters must be feeling when the Clips go on the clock.

Exactly...if they can get a combo of picks and players with expiring contracts by getting two other teams to get involved in a trade. the problem is that this draft class is considered pretty weak and Griffin isn't a sure thing like the guys you mentioned so not sure how much value there really is for him. And with so many teams trying to make room for 2010 when all thos ebig names are free agents that could make it even harder.

Exactly. It would be a horrible feeling to know that you're career was almost over before it started.

FEAR.

May 25, 2009  10:16 AM ET

They should NOT trade the pick. They need a rookie that can turn things around and for god sake, FIRE DUNLEAVY!!!!!

May 25, 2009  10:16 AM ET

Knowing the Clippers they'll probably draft my apartment manager. He fits, he's lazy, can't shoot, and gets a pay-check for doing nothing.

Isn't the back of the jersey he is holding up supposed to say "Olowokandi"

Longtime Clippers Fan. Things could be changing. Baylor - gone, bad GM or GM on a bad team, I say bad GM on a bad team. Baylor has no excuses. Brand, signs with another TEAM and then gets injured and misses majority of the season. This is something that usually happens to the Clips. I pray things are changing for the better
