Every day is a bad day in the Evil Empire, and Swinebrenner is the soft, insidious, and rotting core.

I hate the Yankees as much as the next guy, but it saddens me to hear about Steinbrenner. Without him they are just an overpaid underachieving team. With him, you go out of your way to either love or hate them. Best wishes George, you make hating the yankees more fun.

Steinbrenner's as much the face of baseball as he is the Yankees. This is sad to hear.

I'm not going to make fun of an old man in failing health. Despite his horrible temper, his ruthless treatment of employees (removing dental coverage for certain staff), and at times his disrespect for the game, he is somewhat of an ambassador for the game. It is what it is.

This is a crossroads in the history of the Yankees.

If George Steinbrenner is "the face of baseball" is Barry Bonds the buttocks?

When Steinbrenner goes it will be an end of an era.

I have to agree with All-starz on this. No matter how you feel about the Yankees, Steinbrenner changed the face of baseball. From the hilarity of revolving door managers, to proving that a deep wallet doesn't mean a thing in a 162 game season. Here's hoping for better health for him.
