The NHL free agent meat market that opens its doors on July 1 is still five weeks away, but it's already clear that Vancouver Canucks duo of Daniel and Henrik Sedin will be amongst the prize offerings should they make it that far. The pending unrestricted free agents (UFA) are finishing up a contract that paid them $3.575 million annually. They've been close to or at a point-a-game producers the last four seasons and, at 28, are in the prime of their careers. The Sedins have stated they want to continue to play together and they would like to remain in Vancouver. Discussions were put on hold in March, but the twins' agent, J.P. Barry of Calgary's CAA Sports, said he expects talks to get into gear shortly.

I could see them in Minnesota

give them to burkee. let them again go awol when the playoffs arrive. although it could be sometime before leafs make it that far.

The big problem is you don't get 2 players. You essentially get one body that takes up two bench spots, costs a lot and has no heart.

Both are naked as jaybirds without the other.

5 year deals for both at 6 million per year. I hope they stay West.Lidstrom is the best d-man ever!

Maybe Hongcouver will trade the two sweethearts for your boy Lucic?

They are playing in Vancouver or Toronto next season.

Thats a double edged sword there Hank. The Sedins are both solid regular season contributors but they cant or they're unable to get over the hump come play-off time. They both have skills beyond Lucic obviously but Lucic takes his game to a higher lever than the Sisters come play-off time. No way i want Lucic to return home....that would make you happy! I like you better when you're not happy. Hhahahahha.Lidstrom is the best d-man ever!

Playoffs are al that matters.

If the trade was made Hongcouver would be instantly better and I wouldn't like that either.

Right now I wish it was your Bruins playing Pitt. They'd match up much better than Carolina.

I cant believe my B's struggled so mightily against THESE Caniacs. The Pens are making it look very easy. Looks like a rematch from last year. I'm pulling for Crosby and Co to make Hossa cry one more time. That would be awesome. And hilarious.Lidstrom is the best d-man ever!

Not I.

Detroit all the way. Pens fans are an insufferable lot.

But I'm hoping somebody does some free dental work on Hosebag.

It funny how teams match up. I made this comment ealier today on a dead thread. But the Canes just match up well against Boston. Not so well against Pitt.

My comparison was George Foreman dismantling Joe Frazier, Ali beating Foreman and Frazier more than able to hold his own against Ali.

Styles are everything and the Bruins were susceptible to Carolina. But the Canes can't do a thing down low versus Malkin. I think Chara would be feasting on Crosby and Malkin hanging around the net. And the Bruins forwards could play the Pitt defense hard instead of sweet.

I've heard the rumors of these twins heading to T.O. My god!!! why can they not be separated already!
I know they play well together but, isn't it time that they find their own identities? Who knows, they might actually both turn into better players.

They are no better than compost on their own.

I guess none of you look at stats or watch games (other than your favourite bandwagon teams)...the Sedins played solidly in the playoffs...it's the vaunted Burrows and Kesler (and the made-of-glass Demitra) who pulled the vanishing act against Chicago.

yes they are a perfect fit for the twin cities!

This T&R says the Sedin twins could leave Vancouver like it is something new, they have talked about this for months. And it is 3 teams that are interested; Montreal, Minnesota(was but I don't know with the new GM Fletcher) and the obvious one Toronto.

Easy there fellas. Some of us Pitt/Pens fans are totally bearable and totally loveable. LOL!!!!!

And for the record, pink doesn't fly with me (and I am a broad) - black and gold all the way.

;)

May 25, 2009  08:42 PM ET

What's unbearable is the Sedins and the drama associated with them.

May 25, 2009  08:47 PM ET

Mmmmmm
Sendins and Sundin drama. And Neidermyer, though I can't spell his last name and it doesn't rhyme.

They almost like the Hansen brothers!

The Canes have been in every game Hank. The Pens have broken them open in the third the last two.

The B's would be playing the Pens more physical, but Crosby and even Malkin are better grinders than most folks think...especially Crosby. This team is now 40 games into the Dan Bylsma pressure offense and are playing with a lot of confidence and purpose.

I also think the playoff run last year has benefited the Pens a lot this year. Whether it will take them to the next round and make a better finals than last year, we'll see.

You've been awfully quiet lately.....

The sisters really did nothing when it truly mattered as usual. I watched every game they played. More points per game against St Louise, same total points in a series. And neither total was like a Franzen or Malkin.

Trade them.
