Four teams interested in Camby?
With the ship finally turning in the right direction with Blake Griffin soon to be aboard, Marcus Camby hopes to stay a Clipper. Griffin's arrival will likely lead to the departure of one of the Clippers' big men: Camby, the ex-University of Massachusetts star, Chris Kaman, or Zach Randolph. Camby is 35 and averaged 10.3 points, 11.1 rebounds, and 2.1 blocks this season. San Antonio, Dallas, Miami, and Atlanta surely have to be interested.

@ 35, he needs to be on a contender, not a rebuilding team.
And it's too bad he left Denver by the time Chaucey Billups came in, though the move was done for money reasons. See how good defence they've played against LA and Dallas this year, now imagine adding the former Defensive Player or the Year as a backup to Nen??. But now, it's Birdman time...

How much is left on his contract?
Lots of teams should want him, lots could use his his rebounding and shot blocking.

Who would be interested for Camby? He is too injured, no offense, too expensive, too old, and he should be the least you would want from the 3 mentioned. Kaman has the most upsides. Kaman is younger, least expensive, has an all around game both offense and defense.

Can you believe it will be Denver vs Orlando in the Finals. The NBA is trying hard to put Kobe vs Lebron but Denver and Orlando are not cooperating. The Magics are complaining about phantom fouls but they are winning. Now they know how the Mavs felt.
The reason why the Cavs and Lakers are losing is because the supporting cast are not showing up. The superstars cannot do it on their own. Now Lebron and Kobe knows how Dirk feels. People has to realize that it's always the best all around team that wins not the individual superstar.

Why would they give up Kaman? And Randolph has attitude and off the court problems.

I gave the reason why teams should not go for Camby and go for Kaman instead.

Birdman is playing quite well against the Lakers!

he's only got 1 more year at 7mil +
- he will be a VERY desirable contract and player for exactly the
reasons you gave

Marcus Camby and the Spurs to me make perfect sense. Atlanta wouldn't be a bad fit either. He's got one more year on his deal with about 7 million coming to him. It's a desireable contract and the Clippers should get some good offers for him this summer.

I asked why would the CLIPPERS give up Kaman?

Thanks, I had no idea of he amount, but I thought 1 (at most 2) years left.
Could be a decent starter, or great back-up at both the Centre and PF spots.

Camby is still able to produce, but at 35, his window is closing fast. I would think he could be the missing piece on a team trying to make a run. (Philadelphia, Atlanta, Dallas) But I think teams should be thinking one and done. This will limit the possibilities even more.

San Antonio? Huh? We're trying to get younger, not older.

If I were the Lakers, I would look into this (I know they don't have the cap or the money). Those big bums they have (Yes, I am talking to you Gasol, Bynum, and Odom) play like virgins.

Camby would be a good fit. Let him play out his last year on his deal and stop up the middle so Timmy doesn't have to do so much.

Gasol is making an effort when others aren't stepping up. He's avg'g almost two more rebounds and almost another block per game from the regular season while maintaining his 18 ppg. Odom and Bynum however... they might need to be informed they are in the playoffs.

So what happens when you play a mobile center or forward on the other team? Who's gonna cover him? One-knee Duncan or no-speed Camby?

Sometimes you say some good stuff. But he did average a double-double, he is a defensive force in the middle, he makes 7 mill, and he is a pretty decent passer.
So I think I can say "us" being Mavs fans(?) you would rather have Damp over Camby in the middle?

Also one of your reasons for not going after Camby was that he was injury prone. Well Kaman has missed 84 games the last 3 seasons, he gets paid a boat load more that Camby, and his contract is much longer.
