Cavs in Yao's future?
Chinese basketball fans are already gleefully predicting Yao Ming will join LeBron James at the Cleveland Cavaliers after reports a Hong Kong-based company is set to take a minority share in the NBA franchise. U.S. media reported over the weekend that New World Development Company was to take a 15 percent holding in the Cavaliers, the second-largest stake after owner Dan Gilbert. The NBA is hugely popular in China with hundreds of millions tuning in to games involving Houston Rockets center Yao and the report has been met with great enthusiasm in Internet chat rooms.

That would be cool, having the most popular player on Earth joining the most popular player in America.

Yeah I think the cavs' building a better team around James would rule out him leaving the team. I like Yao as a Rocket but I am afraid that T-Mac will never get right. So I think it might be a good for him it could be the makings of a NBA dynasty.

Yao would be good for the Cavs if that happens. I believe Yao is overrated and hasn't done anything yet. Fans and the media don't blame him enough in Houston. I believe he is part of the blame. He is always injured especially in the playoffs. He does not will his team enough even though he has the capability to lead the team. The guy can be overpowering but he does not know when and how to use it. He can easily dominate a game but he hasn't shown any of that.

It would be good if it happens but for some reason I can't even fathom or imagine this happening.

I'm not sure you should "blame" Yao. He's too tall, and certainly prone to injuries. Plus he decides to play for his country (MANY in the US won't appreciate it, or don't think that's a noble thing to do). Plus chinese government isn't really democratic, if they want him to play, then he has no other choice.
So basically my point is, if Yao is handled properly (pretty much like a feather), he can be fresh for playoffs, he'll be fine. Rest him every 4 games, and keep his minutes to 25. He can be very productive in 25. Most of his injuries are "stress fractures", so the lesser he can play, better chances of him being healthy. No one can question his skill or talent, so use him for 25 solid minutes, shut him down.

Why? So Yao can get hurt before or during the Playoffs and LeBron be in the same situation he is in now?

That's pocket change once that Chinese company officially enters the ownership group.

No way Lebron re-signs with the Cavs... there's too much money out there in the big markets. The Knicks would (and probably will) do ANYTHING to get him.

Yao is a broken foot away from having to give it up. He gets hurt every year, and it's always the same area. The Lab created a giant, but didn't add enough calcium it seems.

I respect your opinion. but i find it ridiculous. Nobody is dumb enough to leave the Cleveland situation for the rut that is the Knicks. And with foreign investors coming in, that definitely takes care of the dough. How can people not see this?

It does not matter about big markets for Lebron he is a world wide superstar like jordan was in Chicago. he is still getting that NY money while he is in Cleveland right now.

I think that money comes with sucess. Endorsements are the real money maker I think lebron has enough money with Nike and the other products he endorses. I think he stays with the cavs. Especially if they make it to the finals.

This move was smart on the Cavs part. LBJ is already popular in China, but bring in additional exposure to strengthen his marketing power over in Asia and deepen his pockets. This can be used as great leverage next summer when the Knicks come calling.
