08:37 AM ET 05.26 | The Maple Leafs still are after highly coveted free agent Jonas Gustavsson, but have temporarily ceased talks with the Swedish goaltender as Gustavsson's mother has died. Gustavsson had left the world championship early last month to be with his mother, who had been gravely ill with a lung ailment. According to Maple Leafs general manager Brian Burke, Gustavsson's mother died on the weekend. According to the Denver Post, Gustavsson is expected to travel to Denver soon and meet with Colorado management. The paper said that Gustavsson's interest in the Avalanche may stem from the fact that one of his all-time idols -- goaltender Patrick Roy -- may join the club as the head coach.
