Floyd won't talk about USC turmoil

Tim Floyd worked the room. USC's basketball coach smiled and laughed with Trojans boosters, listened intently when circumstances called for it, and posed for a few photos. What he didn't do was talk about the main issues confronting his program. The free fall that the basketball team is currently experiencing, the specter of an NCAA investigation into the Trojans' basketball and football programs, and rampant speculation that Floyd's job might be on the line was not part of the agenda. The crowd that filled one of the hotel's ballrooms mustered only one tough question, which was asked of both coaches: There has been this cloud of the NCAA, are we ever going to get out of it? Carroll quickly answered, saying that when he first got to USC his goal was to build a program where, "everyone was coming after us." "Be careful what you wish for," Carroll added, also saying that scrutiny was the price "for being on top." Floyd did not respond to the question.

On the advice of his lawyers no doubt......

Looks like today is NCAA CBB recruiting violation day illegal activity day.

My kids are having field day today. No connection.

The key is to suck at your sport while you are paying your players? I get it now. Sage advice Pete!

If Coach Floyd did pay a grand for OJ Mayo he should repay his salary for the year Mayo was at USC and the team should forfiet the games. Also Floyd should be fired.

However, if he is innocent, the person who made these statments should be sued for defamation of character.

Plenty of programs are "on top" and don't get the NCAA scrutiny. Pete needs to look at the illegal activity. He sounds like my kid when he doesn't do something. "its not my fault, its someone elses".

I liked it when we hired Floyd. With his trip to Tucson, and stuff coming up with Mayo, not so much.

Uhh, coach, the scrutiny is because of rampant and flagrant violations.

But after listening to your dissembling escapist reasoning, we can see how those violations bloomed under your careful care.

Nothing like getting scrutinized for being on top, right guys?

Tim Floyd should hold a press conference and ask for his grand back, because OJ Mayo didn't earn his money.

At USC we rape, murder, cheat and steal, and get away with it, losers, live with it.

Too bad for all you penny pinching peons out there watching USC rack up the hardware year after year after year. We cheat and pay our players and the NCAA, IRS, FBI, and Law Enforcement doesn't do a damn thing about it because Trojans run everything. Sorry suckers, but that's the price you have to pay for being a Notre Dame, Big-10, or 10 out of 12 teams in the SEC fans.

We rule.

They need to look at USC Football that is where the shady activity is. Why is it taking so long to finish up the investigation on Reggie Bush and company kick backs.

Sorry Sandy your pathetic crying falls on deaf ears. Notice how your beloved Bruins have only won (1) Basketball Championship since the Sam Gilbert stopped handing payouts?

Even your (1) title came under the slimy hands of Jim Harrick who has been busted at (2) other schools and fired by UGLY.

Don't throw stones. Every major program lives in a glass house.

That being said..if Floyd DID pay a runner $1K in public and broad daylight... He should be fired..... for stupidity.

Funny to think, he passed the the U of A job a few months ago. He could havd ding-dong-ditched USC and been the head of a elite program.
