Judge shortens Coyotes relocation decision
A judge handling the Coyotes' bankruptcy case could decide in two weeks whether the financially beleaguered team stays in the desert or moves. On Wednesday, U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Redfield Baum put on a fast track a decision whether the highest bidder could relocate the team. A hearing will occur June 9, and the judge said he would rule shortly thereafter. A hearing on the issue previously wasn't scheduled until June 22.

Shorten the date all he wants...it will not shorten the traffic jams along the QEW on game nights during rush hour if this bid is successful with the re-location. Forget about public transit too.

Thats great for Balsille because he said that he will remove is offer if he doesn't have the team by July 1st. Now the next hearing after the 9th would be the auction for the 22nd, the Judge must want Balsille to buy it or else they wouldn't have moved it.

If the judge rules in Balsillie's favour, all of the professional sports team will help the NHL pay legal fees to appeal this!

I agree in principal, but I believe that balsillie has got this figured out. He`s a self-made billionnaire with a crack law team on hold just to deal with this acquisition. I have think that on this one Balsillie finally caught Bettman with his pants down and he`s playing 5 steps ahead.
I don`t know anything about amercian bankruptcy law, so I can`t say much; but I know that in Quebec, when it comes to fire sales and acquisitions after bankruptcy the appeal process is handled very very efficiently through the federal court. Hopefully there is a similar fast track for appeals.

Sorry Gary, in bankruptcy stuff money talks. Mr. Balsillie's money is currently aiming to give you the big "FU".

Fast move? Canadian's who think that this is a done deal don't fully understand the American court system. The major sports leagues will argue this all the way up to the Supreme Court. Remember, MLB has federal anti-trust exemption. By extension, the major leagues have had more or less the same protections. The leagues together have very deep pockets and will fund both the NHL and Glendale's separate appeals all the way to the Supreme Court.
This could take some years to resolve.

Just let them move back to Canada in a hockey friendly market, Phoenix Arizona is not a place one would associate hockey with hence why they have zero money
