Why Jazz may deal Kirilenko
Is there a market for Andrei Kirilenko? With two years and $34 million left on his contract, the odds seem slim. But at this stage is it best for the Jazz to take back whatever they can get in a potential Kirilenko trade just for the sake of payroll considerations? Can you afford to bring back Kirilenko at $16 million next season if he's just going to come off the bench?

AK 47 = an expensive asset, he is awesome on D....but his size and offense don't do him justice.

Long defender, decent offense, I can think of one team in the playoffs now who could use that, the Cavs. I dont know what Utah is looking for in return, talent or just a salary dump. If talent dont think the Cavs have enough but if they want to dump salary the Cavs have alot of expiring salary on the bench this upcoming season they could use and they are not afraid to stay over the luxury tax limit. Utah is on the hook no matter what they do for his salary amount next season because any trade this offseason will have to equal salaries next year but the Cavs can offer relief for the 2010 season, saving the Jazz around 18mil. Not sure how feasible this is but its a thought.

Utah and Lakers should talk. Utah can get rid of Kirilenko and Boozer (and he can sign a new deal with LA) for a package including either Gasol or Bynum. That would leave either Gasol or Bynum to play center in LA with AK47 taking Ariza'a place and making them a better defensive team, and Boozer making them tougher. Gasol would make the same money as AK47 but be more productive, or they can take Bynum who will be much cheaper if they're looking to dump salary. They would have to throw in some other pieces like Sasha and Farmar as well as draft picks, but they can always make these things work. The Lakers will have some money to spend because Odom is off the books and they are way over the cap anyways, so they don't mind spending the money to win.

What I would like to see as a Bulls fan is the Bulls to send Tyrus Thomas and either Luol Deng or Ben Gordon (sign and trade) to Utah for Boozer, then sign Boozer long term.

Too expensive for a player that don't have much offense. $17 million a year is too much. He would be okay if he brings leadership and he is about 8 mil a year.

That's franchise player type money - even Don Nelson will not go for that. Truth is Utah's not rich enough to keep all those players and it's sad to see such a great assembly of players disintegrate because of money - a GM's worst nightmare. Once again the stupid cap helps nobody but the greedy owners like Sterling and Shinn who are just in it for the money.

I would not bother even thinkning about moving AK-
since it is next to impossible to move that contract
The Jazz being so scared of the lux tax is kind of ridiculous
they have the 26th LOWEST payroll- that's FIFTH from the bottom
I mean suck it up and try and WIN

I might be one of the few Andrei Kirienko fans. He is an all-around player (garbage man).

I hate seeing teams compromise the product on the floor for cash considerations. With the uncertainty surrounding Boozer, Millsap, and Okur, it doesn't make sense the deal Kirilenko for "whatever they can get." It isn't his fault the Jazz signed Kosta Koufos through 2012-2013.

he's not a bad player- his cntract is just terrible
if he was making 5 mil- there'd be a dozen teams interested

Play him at power forward and you'll get your money worth. Boozer just ruins the chemistry of that team in weird ways.

And I would like to see him on a Laker team, but I know it won't happen.

please explain about your boozer hate?
- the prior 2 years they made the conference semis & finals
(and lost to the WINNER & runner-up
- this year with injuries they made the playoffs & lost to the
likely finals team....
- how exactly does he 'ruin' anything ?

When they signed him to that big contract, he was "the guy." He was only "the guy" because they had no one else at the time. Then you bring in good players around him and he becomes the role player he is now. Gawwww, gotta love gauranteed contracts NBA.
