Wild GM building list
Chuck Fletcher said Thursday he's still developing his coaching candidate list. It's unclear whether the new Wild general manager would consider Pierre Page, the classy former North Stars coach, to succeed resigned Jacques Lemaire. But Page has been a big success in Europe, and he worked for Fletcher's father, hall of famer Cliff, for eight years in the NHL.

I figured he must be Cliff's father, this is just the first time I've seen it reported. Minny doesn't need to give a coach a job for sentimental reasons - their fan base is a rabid as any in the US (or in all truth, Canada - Minny should be another Canadian province, they are so similar to us). Page hasn't coached in the N since his days with the Nordiques, if I remember right, so maybe he's just not up to it anymore. This is a team that needs a young coach. Edmonton couldn't do it, it just wasn't the right fit for a newbie, but the Wild a ripe for a fresh faced coach a la Boudreau or John Anderson. Maybe they can poach Detroit's ass't coach this off season like San Jose did. Or Ted Nolan, who would be a great fit in my eyes, since this is a franchise that is looking to win, unlike the Islanders, which is what caused him all the grief there.
