Pahokee High in Florida is in the news again. One of its cornerbacks appears to be on the brink of making a commitment, and Georgia remains in the mix. The Bulldogs are one of five finalists in the pursuit of Merrill Noel, a 5-foot-10, 180-pounder rated by rivals.com as the 38th-best player at his position. The other schools Noel is considering are Florida State, Tennessee, Wake Forest and West Virginia. Noel says that he and teammate Zachary Allen have a "very high" chance of picking the same school. Georgia isn't on the list of finalists for Allen, a 6-2, 210-pound outside linebacker. Both are expected to announce their decisions on Monday. The schools that overlap on Noel's and Allen's lists are Wake Forest and West Virginia. Allen also is reported to be considering Michigan and Purdue.

Why are they called GA recruits when the kid specifically states they will probably go to the same school, of which GA is not one based on their overlapping preferences.

This kid is rated as the 38th best at his "position". Is that good? i mean, in Florida or in the nation I could understand.

All i keeo hearing about pahokee is that they send thier guys to UF and Ut wants to be in the mix as well. What is lost in all of this is that Wake Forest has been using Pahokee as a pipeline for years now under grobe. don't be shocked if they go to wake, especially considering the success of former pahokee and deacs star alphonso smith the recent 2nd round cb in last month's draft

Let's go, Mountaineers!!

Rivals.com has him as a 3-star player with offers from Florida State, Georgia, Tennessee, Wake, WVU, Michigan, Pittsburgh...so 38th best must be pretty good

By my calculations, there are between 120 - 125 CB's on the field )depending on nickle, dime and short yardage situations) for every Division I regular play (excluding punts, field goals, etc.). Meaning Division I needs about 250 "1st string" CB's. That's about 70 per year on average, meaning 38th would be in the middle of the pack for any given recruiting class. Good enough that a number of schools would be interested, not so much that signing the guy would be a major coup.

A 3-star at 38th might mean the 2010 is a CB-rich class.

It gets worse JRM. If you consider that the average eligibility tenure is about 4.5 yrs, that puts the per class mount to just under 56.
