Oswalt looking for new team?

07:54 AM ET 05.31 | Keep an eye on the relationship between Roy Oswalt and the Astros. He has been disappointed that the club hasn't made an attempt to land Jake Peavy and recently has seemed at odds with manager Cecil Cooper. Oswalt has a full no-trade clause but might not mind a chance to go to a contender.

I hope Philly moves on this. Just don't give up the farm.

May 31, 2009  09:39 AM ET

Oswalt would be a great # 2 in Philadelphia.

Two stories out of the Tribune over potential trades for other teams? Makes you wonder ...

May 31, 2009  09:45 AM ET

Hmmm. <Calling Brian Cashman> Try to get Oswalt, and if you do, send down put Joba in the bullpen and keep Hughes as a starter.

May 31, 2009  10:11 AM ET

I find that photo just a little disturbing.

Blaiming it on the manager... clearly he wants a trade because he's sick of Ivan's advances

May 31, 2009  11:14 AM ET

correction, he would make a great number 3 for the mets. =oP

May 31, 2009  11:14 AM ET

whoops meant number 2

Tread carefully signing NL pitchers to pitch in the AL, especially the AL East. The Yankees more than anybody have been burned expecting former NL pitchers to replicate in pinstripes what did in the DH-less, weaker hitting NL.

I was thinking the exact same thing. NL pitchers who pitch well in the NL should stay put....been burned too many times by guys who look great, but in reality just have success playing in a lesser league with only 8 real batters to face.

Astros need a new owner

so true they cant handle a real league with the yankees, redsox, rays, angels, ect

May 31, 2009  12:09 PM ET

So I guess Greinke will be a Met or a Dodger in a few years

May 31, 2009  12:09 PM ET

I Hope those guys are wearing pants

May 31, 2009  12:21 PM ET

Everyone knows Philly badly needs a starter so they're gonna pay through the nose.
If I'm the Yanks I don't touch him unless Joba proves he can't start, Wang doesn't come back or someone gets hurt. The Yanks need bullpen. Joba would be great there but Petitte will be gone after this year. Once they move Joba there's no turning back...again...so let him start for now. Aceves is doing nicely in the pen.

Thats problem #1.

The Astros traded every young prospect they had to get Randy Johnson,Beltran,Tejada and couldnt resign RJ or Beltran. If they resigned Beltran we may have been talking differently right now. Yes Oswalt wants to see the Stros make moves to better themselves as do us fans..but Roy exactly what do we have left in the farm? Your answer is NOTHING.

I think its a few years to late to trade Oswalt for high talent, as he has came down a bit off his high horse...who's next Berkman? Houston is in trouble and its going to be a long time until we see the WS again...

May 31, 2009  01:16 PM ET

Roy deserves a chance to pitch for a winner. The Astros deserve a chance to get better. Astros main question should be who to keep, not who to trade.

beckett and burnett seem to be doing all right......oswalt has great stuff and any team in the al east will have trouble hitting him...at least for the first year

May 31, 2009  01:25 PM ET

The Astros traded John Halama and Freddy Garcia for Johnson. They traded John Buck for Beltran, and Luke Scott for Tejada. Only Luke Scott is currently having a productive season, let alone a career within the past 5 seasons. the reason Houston is in last place is due to the re-signings/signings of Hidalgo, Ensberg, and Ausmus in the past 5 yrs, and the Jason Jennings for Taveras trade. Had they realized that Hidalgo and Ens were on steroids, Ausmus could never hit, and that Taveras was the best lead-off hitter thay ever had, they might be in a better place right now.

As a Reds fan, I hope he is traded out of the NL to the Beer League. He's what, 150-1 against the Reds?
