Chris Andersen is the Nuggets' most urgent priority in a summer that will test the organization's ability to continue to be frugal, yet field a championship-caliber team. He is one of possibly seven free agents. Andersen wants to return.

Anderson deserves a payday. If the Nuggets don't give him one, somebody else certainly will. Seems to me New Orleans 'blew it' by letting him go. Especially since they could have had him for cheap. I would guess there would be a lot of teams interested in his services if Denver drops the ball.

I think they will resign him and also participate in this 4 way trade:

- DAL gets Wallace (CHA) + Martin (DEN)
They adcquire 2 excellent defensive minded players, to round a good team into their All Star hosting year.
- DEN gets Terry (DAL) + Gomez (MIN)
They obtain the perfect 6th man and a good offensive talented young big while getting a paycut on the payroll.
- CHA gets Miller & Madsen (MIN) + Williams & 1st pick (DAL) + 2nd pick (DEN)
They benefit from a cut of their payroll (even bigger after next year) while obtaining 2 veterans that can rebolt their careers ala Bell & Diaw. Plus the picks.
- MIN gets Howard (DAL) + Diop (CHA)
They get the consistent offensive 2nd option and a good young big. Plus roster flexibility to pursue a good piece in the draft that can fit well into their lineup and to manage better the minutes of Smith & Love.

* All of these moves are considering the new payroll status

To Whom It May Concern: The Cleveland Cavaliers annual fishing trip will depart today from Quicken Loans Arena promptly at 1:30 PM. You must have your life jacket to board the boat. Thank You. I told you so. I love it when I'm right.

If the Cavs got ShaQ they would have easily won. I hate that cheap management they got over there. Lebron averaged almost 40ppg in that series and they still lost... yikes... he's sure gunna be out...

May 31, 2009  10:04 AM ET

and by the way forget signing the extension this summer... that's Hollywood's pipe dream... hahahahah.....

And seriously- how PATHETIC is it that Ferry got GM of the year ?
- I mean - I know many of us -including you Hllywood- have been
'complaining' about how BAD their management has been since
falling into LBJ witht he first - NO BRAINER- pick....

May 31, 2009  10:16 AM ET

oh yeah- Anderson is going to have a nice payday.....

agree 100% and will add that Woodson getting the coach of the year is even worse.

May 31, 2009  10:31 AM ET

plus i dont think mike brown should have won coach of the year either

Absolutely not, but Brown was the easy choice because of the Cavaliers record. The Coach of the Year should have gone to someone that exceeded expectations with a team noone would have considered. In my opinion, the Coach of the year was George Karl. If Mike Brown was a coach, he wouldn't have a 7'3 center roaming the perimeter looking for a jumpshot, while your best low post threat is a point guard. I could go on about this team, but this isn't the place.

them getting best record was a nice accomplishment-
all these awards for coaches/management is stupid anyway

I don't like Karl-
he's been there for several years already and he FINALLY got the
team to play defense ?...no- I don't think Karl deserved it either

Oh Yeah; anyone still interested in a Kobe/LeBron final should buy an X-Box. The price has been reduced to accommodate those that have been severely injured by last night's events.

I don't like him either, but I think he was more deserving than Mike Brown.

I agree..Shaq would have made a huge difference...they still would have had problems matching up with Turk and R.Lewis so I won't say they would have won the series.
I knew Denver would regret letting Camby go for nothing...they should have kept him and got rid of Iverson back then.
Yes they should pay to keep the Birdman...and try to get Camby back!

Coach of the year should have been any of the 3, McMillan, Stan Van Gundy, or Adelman. Brown is not a bad choice but the post season showed why Brown should not have been the choice.

Another matter, it's sad that Lebron didn't congratulate anybody after the game. One bad perception can ruin a superstar's status. It's a disappointing series but players have to show their sportsmanship. I've seen series where there are bad blood between teams and players but when the series is over they congratulate each other and give their support. That's a shame for Lebron.

It has to be Rick Adelman in this case.

May 31, 2009  11:40 AM ET

There are 11 year olds that look at the Cavalier frontcourt with bewilderment.

May 31, 2009  11:44 AM ET

The Cavs should make signing Chris Anderson their top off-season priority.
