Thunder favoring Harden or Hill?

Thunder GM Sam Presti could use the pick to select Ricky Rubio or Hasheem Thabeet, but early rumors are the Thunder might prefer Arizona State shooting guard James Harden or Arizona power forward Jordan Hill more than Rubio or Thabeet. Another option is Presti could consider trading down.

Trade down... they're only going to screw up the pick anyway.

Another guard isn't going to be of much help to this team. I don't know much about Jordan Hill except that he's 6'9 and 210lbs. Sounds like a project to me. This kid needs a sandwich.

I would conceive a sign-trade with LA were they choose and get 2 picks for Ariza and play him or Durant at SG or I would choose a frontcourt player like Thabeet and try to go after Ariza in FA.

Other possible FA moves:
- Artest by (HOU)
- Boozer by (DET) or (IND) - in that order
- Gordon by (CHI) or (UTAH) or (TOR)
- Iverson by either (TOR) or (CHA)
- Kidd by either (DAL) or (ATL) or (PHI) or (IND)
- Miller by (PHI) or (ATL) or (IND) or (DAL)
- Bibby by (ATL) or (PHI) or (IND) or (DAL)
- Marion by (TOR) or (SA) or (LA)
- Odom by (LA) or (TOR) or (IND) or (CHA)

It would be a HUGE mistakefor this team not to go for Thabeet
if he's available......they need a DEFENSIVE presence there to
compensate for all the pigs they currently have offensively

Hill - by what I've read/seen of him is being compared to
chris Wilcox....is that worth a #3 pick ? - no

If thabeet is gone- they should ABSOLUTELY trade the pick to
someone that might offer a center

lmfao lordgahon! where do i start!

artest... would want to be the man... damaging westrook and durants development.
boozer... could fit but would want huge contract! not worth the risk
gordon... could work yet again not worth the risk plus durant needs shots
iverson... no fking way! cancer to a young skilled group
kidd... not a good fit
miller... probably a good fit considering he doesnt need many shots! but westbrook has to much potential to play as a back up.. let westbrook run the point
bibby... as above
marion... no need for his inflated ego and mediocar play
odom... very good fit but as a laker fan i dont want this to happen

out of these odom would be the only good safe fit! if he was going to go anywhere i hope its okc.
i think im with jbg they should take thabeet if he is available. allthough they need to dangle a big fish in front of clips to try to move up griffen durant and westbrook could become anything! i would love to watch these 3 play together! but if they cant move up mayby another good option would be the rights to thabeet to the knicks for the rights to curry and chandler. chandler would be another good young piece plus it could be a exciting backcourt with westbrook and curry!

west
curry
durant
green
FA

plus a good hump of salary and a bunch of picks this draft...

i mean stephon curry not big boy curry lol!

Thank you. I read somewhere earlier that he was 6'9 and 210. Arizona's website also lists him at 235. That sounds more like a player.

The only thing for the Thunder to do is go back to Seattle and be called Sonics again...
They're not going to get any better by changing cities.
I prefer to see that wonderful green and blue instead of those ugly blue(ish) and orange horrors.
I have nothing against OKC or its fans, but the stadium will be filled for the first 2-3 years and when the fans understand the team will perform poorly they wont return.

They make money here in OKC. The town loves them and they sell out every home game. Something they couldnt even come close to in Seattle.

The answer for this team is Thebeet, whether they are sold on him or not. They already have good defenders in the backcourt, and he'll be a good rebounding/put back guy for a jumpshooting team.

this team doens't need more scoring
they need a guy that can bail them out DEFENSIVELY

Ben Gordon, Jamal Crawford, Raymond Felton, Jarrett Jack...all good free agent options for OKC.

May 31, 2009  03:02 PM ET

Marvin Williams, Lamar Odom, and Al Harrington are possiblities too.

ouch- your list is a who's who of pigs....
I disagree- they need DEFENSE there-
they should make a play for the Birdman

@ The Action Brown:

Sure, the town loves them ... but for howlong? Do you think the fans will come in mass after a few years of mediocrity? I don't think that. I think, that's what you saw the last years in Seattle (and what you see with the Clippers and the Grizzlies).
And the management knows that too. That's why a week or two ago, you saw a post saying that the Thunder would like to draft that player/hero from Oklahoma.

Not necessarily. They already have Nick Collison, Nenad Kristic, DJ White, and Jeff Green.

I think the town will love'em for at least 41 years...then maybe we won't care anymore since we'll have pro baseball and pro football. The Ford Center will be a dump by then, but we'll have "More Important Things" to fund.

Who doesn't want to draft the consensus #1 pick?

JGB may be on to something. We loved Birdman when he was here...now he a blocking machine. Bring him on. Collison is an energy guy, and Krstic gets us some offense, but there is no wall at the basket right now.

I agree, i was saying he would help out defensively with the already decent defense from the front court. Anybody that drafts thabeet will do so for his defense and rebounding.

However people think he is limited offensively but on the Thunder he could contribute more than on other team because of his rebounding/putback prowess.

I just relocated here (OKC), any must-see suggestions that I should do? Im a originally a New Yorker and way out of my element, but I have an open mind.

By the way, the fans here certainly show a different love for their team than the Knicks, and I wouldnt be surprised if the city made a play for the Rams and built a stadium halfway to Tulsa.

Welcome!

Depends on what you like to do. About everything is available, just nowhere near as much of it as you're used to.

Recommend listening to FM 98.1 (The Sports Animal). They internet broadcast, as well. Al Eschbach is a sports radio personality from New Jersey. He transplanted something like 30 years ago, but you wouldn't know it by the accent. Might make you feel a little "at home".

We'd be way out of our element trying to land an NFL team, at least for a couple of decades. Until then we're enjoying the Thunder head in the right direction. We understand it'll take time. With "Presto" at the helm, it'll take less time than average.
