That makes him 5'7" 155lbs. But not everyone gets offers from D1 schools so he must be able to play.

Just cause you get a D1 offer does not mean you can play. Look at Colt McCoy's brother.

Good Point. TX Longhorns have commitments from a couple of 5-star stud QBs (Gilbert and Wood) and another in the works (Ash). Signing McCoy's brother does not necessarily mean he'll be counted on to make a difference.

name recognition does not hurt in either case (mccoy, gore) but you also have to have a viable backup should your starter go down and keeping one stud on the bench usually doesn't happen very often. texas already had the mccoy/snead thing and they lost mallett when they got brantleys commit.

I also think mccoy was a pick so they could also get jaxon shipley when he graduates. but i wouldn't toss him out just yet. Colt was not highly rated coming out of hs either.

FJJ - TX #2 QB John Chiles has been moved to receiver. What are your thoughts on Gilbert getting some playing time this year? I'm not familiar with the guys behind Chiles on the depth chart.

I think he gets lots of playing time especially in the UT blowouts. He's already on campus, going to meetings, studying the playbook (similar offense to what he ran in hs), working out on his own (can't do the team thing yet). I believe he can start practicing more with the team in a couple weeks when he graduates.

Backup QB now is Sherrod Harris who has not done alot and was Chiles backup.

Can't they find a picture of Shannon that doesn't look like he's freezing his ass off? He coaches Miami, for crying out loud.

It was a chilly 50 degrees in Miami on the day of the photo. Compared to year round thats downright freezing.

It was an away game with a temp of 75 degrees. Brutal!

The difference is Gore is from Miami.....Kansas kids are not cut out for down here

i'm sure this had more to do with Frank whispering in his ear, but I love what Randy Shannon is doing.

This year they'll be competitive, next year they'll be back in the NC mix
