Colorado wide receiver Josh Smith and tight end Ryan Wallace are transferring from coach Dan Hawkins' football program. Smith has asked for a release from his scholarship so he can transfer to another school to pursue a music major not offered in Boulder. Wallace is looking to transfer to a program closer to home in Bowling Green, Ky.

Who sings that song?

The irony is their 5 star stud RB Darrell Scott was a Texas lock until Josh Smith convinced him to go to CO. Josh is his uncle (his mothers brother). Now Josh is gone and Darrell rumored to be transferring to UCLA.

I used to like watching Colorado's program...but that was several controversies ago...

What's the story (name and sport) of today's avatar?

T&R actually found an illustration that looks appropriate for the story - Hawkins with a confused, helpless expression. He's gonna end up with a team that couldn't whup Texas A&M, much less Odessa Permian HS.

They're already there. Josh Smith was their fastest player and best WR.

That would be hilarious if Smith goes to FSU for his music major.

Does Julliard have a football program?

June 1, 2009  12:44 PM ET

I've held Colorado in low esteem ever since the 5th down fiasco and their faux share in the National Championship that year. The rapes and scandals that followed during the ensuing decades had me calling for the death penalty - 4 years without football (Had a plan to keep the band alive and playing.).

Though I've no great trust of the university administration, Hawkins seems like a decent fellow, and I'll give him every chance to build a program with integrity. Besides, Hawkins skydives ;-)

I think that they have a "Foosball" program...

The band geek in me loved the part about the pursuing the music major program

FOOSball is the tool of the Devil, Bobby Bouchet!

Maybe Smith would stay at Colorado if they'd let him march with the band at halftime, rather than having to go back to the locker room with the rest of the team?
