Doctor blames Odom's sweet tooth
Sportswriters and fans have proposed numerous theories for Lamar Odom's up-and-down play, but here is a new one: Odom's fondness for candy. In an essay titled " Lamar Odom, Sweet Tooth and Erratic Play," Dr. Daniel Amen writes that Odom's massive consumption of candy leads to a sugar high and then a crash, evidence of which can be seen on the basketball court.

If it were that simple, don't you think that Kobe would be handing him a couple of candy bars before each quarter?

haha how scientific......is this just to increase the awareness of type-2 diabetes?
LO has been one of the most valuable players in the playoffs for the Lakers..and he is prone to having bad games but it's more to do with foul trouble and varied playing time than his sugar consumption, also him playing a lot of his minutes with the bench. Bynum never plays in the crunch, LO fills so many roles for the lakers.

Does he think he is Paul Blart? Should not be an excuse. If that's an excuse then have some candy on the side everytime so he can't use that as an excuse.

Both Lakers loses to Magic were when they had Vladimir Radmonavic/ Luke Walton was Starting over Ariza....the Lakers are much better than those days, finally hitting their stride against Denver game 6.
You would think Lakers will win......i have a feeling the Refs will be making many contraversial calls this series, i can't believe a few presenters on espn said that Hedo Turkaglo is a better second best player than PAU Gasol......pfft.

Lamar is simply a facilitator-
he's just not an aggressive scorer- it's not him-
he CAN do it- it's just not his game- which is why he's
an excellent player to have when you have a dominant force
on your team like Kobe...
- leave him alone-
they've been to TWO finals already with him-
if anyone needs a kick in the rear its BYNUM-
cause if he plays like a wuss- the lakers aren't winning

Candy isn't taking Odom's DESIRE. It simply isn't within him to be a force on a regular basis. It just isn't that simple.

If that's all it takes to make Lamar play like he did in the past two games, Jerry Buss and Phil Jackson would put up a candy store at Staples. It's just silly.

My theory: Sometimes many of the multifaceted players like Lamar and Rasheed are prone to lapses in concentration.
It has nothing to do with sugar (well, maybe a little) but instead the difficulty of maintaining a professional-caliber level of so many individual talents. If Lamar didn't worry about both his three-point shot, handles, post game, drives to the basket, outlet passing and rebounding he'd be more consistent but less versatile.
He's in the perfect situation now allowing that versatility to be exploited.

this is what happens in Laker Land, we make excuses like this for a 6'10 power forward.

That man does eat a lot of candy. That story ESPN ran was crazy.
The sweet tooth can't really be the problem here but he needs to chill out with all those sweets.

I'd agree 100% on Rasheed-
but not odom-
the guys just a mellow dude.....
he is a FREAKISHLY amazing talent that happens to not really
have a 'terminator' gene in his body.....
- he plays bball the way he plays- he's been in the league for
10 years already- he ain't changing-

Interesting that's true. Kobe credits Lamar's attitude with helping him become a more stable person and player.
If Lamar did have that terminator gene - if he played every game like 5 & 6 - he'd be a perennial all-star.
