T-Wolves run workouts without McHale

The Timberwolves opened predraft workouts Monday with a dozen players working out for representatives of 20 NBA teams -- with one conspicuous absence. New president of basketball operations David Kahn said it was decided it would be better if Kevin McHale stayed away until his future as coach is decided. "We're still very much in a process to determine if he or whoever will be the coach," Kahn said. "So I think until that process plays itself out, it would put too much pressure on him, in my opinion, and it would probably make it very uncomfortable with other people here. I think that it's not appropriate yet until we resolve it." Kahn, who had a dinner meeting with McHale last Tuesday, said they would meet again this week, but he wouldn't say when.

Why is this even news? Let the guy go. He does not want to coach anymore. Why would you want somebody who is half hearted about the position?

That is good news for the Twolves......
have they actaully LOOKED at the roster & players he's acquired
in the draft ? He singlehandedly has kept the franchise in the toilet

This is just bulls**t. If Kahn had any intentions of re-hiring McHale, he'd want him there.

Really David Kahn. Kevin McHale, the guy who played in how many NBA finals wouldn't be able to handle the pressure of evaluating players? Come on. Just fire him and move on instead of pretending that all of us don't know what is going to happen.

I mean it's jsut the facts-
Big Al is a player (we'll see if he comes back from the injury)
I like Foye-
other than that.... ???
Gomes is not a starting forward on a playoff team-
love had a nice rookie year- but see Gomes....
- they are garbage-

but sadly, this mchale drama is precisely the kind of dysfunction that keeps this franchise in the toilet. while i agree with you that mchale has been one of worst front office guys i've ever seen, the problem with that franchise goes beyond him.

That's like your girlfriend going to a couples date without you. Like alot of former great NBA players: good on the floor, not good behind the desk. His demise began when he didn't build around KG. Then he traded KG to his former team who got the better end of the deal.

Agree 100 percent. If McHale was still in the T-Wolves' plans he would have been out there.

It's a good time to have the Minnesota job. Expectations are low, but they have a young 20/10 big man in Jefferson, a young talented guard in Foye, young players who go hard, 3 first-round draft picks, and cap room this year and the next. Some good teams might be undergoing changes so there might be an opportunity for Minnesota to make some major moves and make a run at the playoffs.

IF big Al can come back from his injury-
if not- it's a TERRIBLE job

Dude just ditch the guy...he's terrible!

whats all the drama about, its not like if ya fire him there will be a revolt....
The guy was a great bball player but thats it. All he accomplished was to ruin 10 years of MN bball and hand the Celtics a championship.
I still think Danica was a bad girl and should be bent over my knee and spanked.....
