USC coach bitter about departures

USC basketball Coach Tim Floyd expressed his displeasure with those he thinks lure college players into turning pro too soon. During USC's Coaches Tour 2009, Floyd noted, "Kansas has two players who would have been NBA lottery picks, Cole Aldrich and Sherron Collins, and they are returning to school. Good for them. Our guys get an offer from Islamabad and they're gone." USC has had eight players jump early during Floyd's four seasons, four of which were this year. That includes forward Marcus Johnson, who played 16 games as a reserve and averaged 3.6 points. Still, one could point out that Floyd's program has been significantly enhanced by one-and-done players such as O.J. Mayo and DeMar DeRozan.

Tim, Tim, Tim calm down reach into the drawer and just go out there and by more players you know will only stay for one year.

Tim Floyd is either really really stupid or very much a huge hypocritical liar. He recruits these kids. Does he not pay attention to their character? He knows full well the kids he gets won't stick around. Did he honestly think that Mayo would stick around? And looking at the circumstances surrounding the recruiting of Mayo, I hope Floyd gets kicked out of coaching. He's a dirty coach imho.

kharma... pure and simple...

June 3, 2009  08:33 AM ET

So how does a guy who has had sevn different head coaching jobs in the last 21 years explain to kids how important committment is and why you should stay with your team until the end?

He's really bitter about the fact he's going to lose his job. He doesn't care about the kids. He would have been gone had another opportunity presented itself.

Islamabad? The capital of Afghanistan?

You demonstrate commitment by visiting a rival school on a job interview then publicly turn it down by lying and saying you were only going there to see how a first rate program is run.

The guys would rather play pro-ball for the Taliban than get a free ride at USC under Floyd.

June 3, 2009  10:21 AM ET

He really looks like he is crying in that picture.

June 3, 2009  10:40 AM ET

Somehow it's hard to feel sorry for Tim Floyd.

June 3, 2009  10:43 AM ET

Yeah. Money talks. And now that USC is still under investgation for Mayo. They cant pay out anymore.

June 3, 2009  10:57 AM ET

We need to fire this jackhole ASAP. You have taken a program with huge potential, and absolutely ran it into the friggin ground Tim. Quit your pissing and moaning, do whats best for the school and resign. **** Bag.

June 3, 2009  11:06 AM ET

I think he should stay...I like them being on the downturn.

By the way.. SC needs to fire Timmy

In contrats, look at Beilein. Being a Michigan fan, I know all too well about tainted programs. UM got hit hard. I am convinced Fisher knew there were some strange things going on but looked the other way. Beilein is probably one of the cleanest coaches in the game. People complain about the fact he can't recruit top tier players. I don't think it's a matter the can't. It's a matter that most he won't because of how AAU ball is tainted and how many kids have handlers/coaches/advisers and want all the extras. So Beilein uses his amazing eye to catch talented kids who were over looked. Case in point is 2010 Evan Smotrycz who looks to be the steal of the recruiting class. What this all boils down to is just how incompetent and impotent the NCAA is. They just don't have the ability to or intelligence to put forth meaningful guidelines and enforce them.

So will he get paid to quit or is he just waiting to get fired and receive a payoff from SC?
