Blazers trading up for Curry?
Don't be surprised if the Portland Trail Blazers trade into the lottery, looking to acquire Davidson's Stephen Curry. The way I hear it, the Blazers (currently picking 24th) are nosing around to trade up and have Curry in their sights. Enough teams are willing to deal down that this is a real possibility. And it would be great for Curry in this regard: A long-time NBA scout told me months ago that the ideal situation for Curry is to play point guard on a team with a shooting guard who can also handle the ball. That would allow Curry to spot up some, and maximize the impact of his shooting.

Pritchard must have lost confidence in his point guard trio. Oh well just ship Bayless to D'Antoni...

Translation: A small shooting-guard needs to play next to a big point guard.
If Portland wanted to go in that direction, they already have Bayless who is bigger and stronger than Curry. Additionally, there will be a point guard available with the 24th pick. If Portland is going to make a trade, it will be for a veteran point guard.

Every team is now wanting Curry. I'm not surprise if the Blazers do trade for him. They will use him as a combo guard and he will open up the offense for the Blazers. He will make the Blazers better. They have 3 PGs but that's a really good problem to have. This means that one of them will be use as a trade bait. All 3 PGs work pretty well in Blazers system. Don't forget that Roy will have the rock most of the time and the PGs really become 3 point shooters waiting for Roy's kickout pass. Blake and Curry will work pretty well in this situation. Sergio and Bayless have to work w/ their outside shots in the summer.

I cannot have said that any better -
I was even ready to quote the same phrase....
Though I do agree with the statement- what WASN'T said
was that he'd be better coming off the BENCH into that situation
NOT starting for a team that has deep playoff aspirations-
They need VETERANS- not a rookie that has several flaws

a small guy who can flat out shoot and nothing else is not worthy of all this hoopla or a high 1st round pick....can you say Dana Barros....

This isn't likely to happen because Portland will have to move up too far to get it done. I' digress. I will not get upset, but we will have this conversation again. I will say however, if Curry ends up in Portland, the next time I tell you about a stud, you'll listen. I've done this for 10 years now, and have only missed twice, which is a lot better than some of the people that get the big bucks to make these decisions. Just for the record, does the name Todd Fisher mean anything to you. Probably not, but he was drafted before Kobe, and Carlos Boozer didn't go until the 2nd round at #34. Year after year, the experts blow it.

Agreed. Curry to Atlanta next to Joe Johnson? He likely will not last until the Hawks pick.

How do you consider "the expert" in this situation - the scout or Portland management?

I mean Portland has done EXTEREMELY well in the drafts recently
- so I would consider them good talent evaluators.....
HOWEVER
the overall make-up of the team is flawed....
they have no solid/tough veterans mixed in.
Which means the GM is getting good advice on the draft-
but making BAD overall personell decisions
(maybe bad is too harsh a word- but you know what I mean)

Funny how perception clouds one's judgement. The rub against Curry is that he's too small, yet you'll take a 5'11 Ty Lawson?

Heck! why Ben Gordon is a veteran and an unrestricted FA and can play this type of PG role. Ben Gordon is an explosive scorer.. consistenly

Curry will learn a lot from Roy and Blake, Curry coming off the bench would be a good back up, but they will have to face on the issue on what to do with Bayless, too many guards. I would Keep Blake cause he is more consistent and a true point guard, pass first then shoot.
