You probably wouldn't want to be in Magic SG Mickael Pietrus' shoes. He'll have to help defend Lakers star Kobe Bryant. Fact is, Pietrus doesn't want to be in Kobe's shoes. Pietrus said he has worn a pair of basketball shoes that Bryant endorses during games but will not do so for his NBA Finals match-up against the Lakers. "I have some at my house, but I'm going to play with Michael Jordan shoes," Pietrus said.

This is funny but he should have kept his mouth shut. You don't want another reason to light a fire for Kobe. I guess he is just being honest. Just hope he tightens up his defense on Kobe just like he did w/ Lebron. Can't wait for Game 1.

It's on now.

It's okie to do that. Making Kobe selfish will help Orlando... Lebron dropped 40ppg on them but the Cavs still lost... this sounds ironic but Orlando has to keep Ariza away from the three point line... just have him drive in to meet Mr. Howard.

talk about a non-story..............

Regardless of the shoes you wear honey, you're still Mickael Pietrus' ...enough said.

Right! This just means Pietrus doesn't have a shoe contract.

June 3, 2009  12:18 PM ET

Can't go wrong with jordans..... or ewings! lol

June 3, 2009  12:36 PM ET

Pietrus won't have the same kind of success he had against Lebron. Kobe won't try to muscle his way to the basket, there will be a lot of movement on the attack. Those shoes helped him against Lebron, better keep them on because he will be doing a lot of moving vertically and horizontally.

How did this make it to fannation as a truth or rumor, you would have to be a die hard Pietrus fan to really care what shoes he wears in the finals!

i guess everybody gets media attention they should ask tyronne lue and tony battie if they will wear headbands

Yeah, whatever advantage you can get, you'd better use it.

June 3, 2009  01:15 PM ET

before the finals are over we will have plenty of conversations about Pietrus and what makes him a lock down defender. Like Spike use to say, It's gotta be the Shoes.

June 3, 2009  02:05 PM ET

Sure..fire up the best player in the game the evening before the Finals begin. Who else thought besides myself that Kobe would come out in Game 6 against Denver and light them up any way he could? It was a given. Game/series on the line? #24 is your guy. Lakers in 6 after going up 3-2 after trip to Orlando...........

June 3, 2009  02:52 PM ET

The guy was probably joking. Lighten up.

Surprised he doesn't rock Le Coq Sportif.

Lebron scored 40 a game in that series. Pietrus has about as much chance of 'locking down' Kobe as Palin has of ever setting foot in The White House.

I hate to admit this but nobody can stop Kobe. However it takes 5 so Orlando can explore the softies like Gasol and Odom.
