Kevin Garnett's recovery from right knee surgery apparently is going well. Garnett expressed optimism in a recent conversation with team owner Wyc Grousbeck, who spoke yesterday at a corporate sponsorship event at the Boston Harbor Hotel. "I talked to [Garnett] and he guaranteed the championship in 2010 and in 2011," Grousbeck said. "He was as fired up as he's ever been."

Maybe he means on X Bbox or PS3 or somethin like that...

Get real Garnett , You got your title last season...

June 4, 2009  07:11 AM ET

Boston is done... no more championships with the big three as they are well into their 30's - call them the new Barkley, Pippen and Clyde...it's over man!

June 4, 2009  07:22 AM ET

You have to love these gurantees!

Exactly. Pierce and Allen put a lot of mileage on their bodies this year covering for Garnett too. That's not going to help them at all going into next season. My guess is a top 2-3 record in the east, but a round 2 exit in 2010 just like this year.

June 4, 2009  07:49 AM ET

Very possible for 10, but for both...meh....

June 4, 2009  07:54 AM ET

sorry k.g. not going to happen!!! the celtics owner what a clown celtics have two good season after years of sucking and now he thinks they run the league

June 4, 2009  08:00 AM ET

wow, making guarantees before this season even over. What a dope!

June 4, 2009  08:05 AM ET

Ask Mo Williams how those guarantees worked for him ...

June 4, 2009  08:10 AM ET

Throw your "Anything is Possible " away. An old man w/ a busted knee is guaranteeing 2 championship. That's really outrageous. Win 2010 first before you can even guarantee 2011. Somebody should slap this guy to his senses. What's up w/ that walking finger thing that he does on the sideline? He guaranteed a championship when he was MVP w/ Minnesota but what happened. This guy is all talk and lot of trash in him. He got lucky last year because he had other all stars that bailed him out. This is another classless guy. Just because he won one, he got more cockier then ever. Why can't he be like the other 2 amigos (Pierce and Allen)?

June 4, 2009  08:23 AM ET

HAHAHAHA I love KG. But those words are a little too bold for anybody.

June 4, 2009  08:24 AM ET

Not sure what everyone is in such a fuss over-
isn't it GOOD for these athletes who we bang on all the time
for not giving a sh i t....that actually give a sh i t ?

June 4, 2009  08:30 AM ET

Dan Gilbert already claimed the title for Cleveland, KG.... time for a cage match to settle it. :-)

June 4, 2009  08:31 AM ET

Well, I like his passion but the statement is a bit idiotic. This is especially true now that the East has truly started building contenders. The Celtics will compete but I don't expect to see them back in the finals with the players they currently have.

Why would you call them that? Barkley, Pippen and Clyde never played together at the same time on a team. That wouldn't make any sense at all...

I also don't think it's that unrealistic to at least see them in the finals for one of those years...all you guys are acting like they're done yet they took the team that's in the Finals for the East this year to Game 7 without their best player...

June 4, 2009  08:49 AM ET

I think 2010 will happen. The Celtics still have one good run left in them if the Big Three are healthy but they are all on the wrong side of 30, so I'm going to discount 2011 for sure.

June 4, 2009  08:52 AM ET

I think the painkillers they gave him after knee surgery are working too well.
