Now that Jacques Martin has resigned from the Florida Panthers to coach the Montreal Canadiens, ex-Wild coach Jacques Lemaire could be headed to the Panthers either as an adviser or head coach. Lemaire also is expected to have an offer from New Jersey Devils GM and pal Lou Lamoriello.

Can I second that for him being the Devils coach.
NNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

I don't want to see the trap again, its nice seeing Elias and Parise allowed to skate forward once in a while.

He does give some great post game press conferences. I hope this is the "R" in T&R!!

even as a Rangers' fan, I agree with you

I'm not so sure that Jacques wants to coach next season. Naturally it makes sense that Lou would be considering him though. As far as Florida...well, new ownership may want to look at putting Lemaire in their front office. As much as some may dislike his tactics of coaching, he does know the game. Lemaire does seem to have an ability to make his teams compete even when they are missing major parts. He cannot be discredited for getting his teams to play a team game. Personally I don't like his style much myself, but he can make something our of very little...Best guess, pack some sun screen Jacques.

Why would the Devils, that have spent so much time becoming a BETTER offensive minded team, take two steps back and sign Jacques? No. Maybe Florida. After free agency this year they will have nothing.

Can't the master of snoozer hockey just go away for a while?

June 4, 2009  12:36 PM ET

apparantly he is likely to take an offer as a 'special advisor' (whatever that means), with the habs. Don`t know how I feel about that.

either way, don`t care if we get francois allaire or francois gigi??re as our new goalie coach.

Florida is the place for retirees.

The game is passing him by. His style has gone the way of the dinosaurs.

Too much speed now. Thats why it didn't work in Minnesota.

You are an absolute fool.

Lemaire did more with less in Minnesota than anyone could have done. And his best player was an overrated fragile slacker who spent more time on the injury-list than anywhere else.

I tend to agree with this. I wish Deadmonton had done as much with as little.

Way too rich for the cheap owners in FLA. Now if he is willing to work as a sign spinner in front of the BAC, well....
