Villanueva to Cavs?
As we've discussed at length in this space, the Milwaukee Bucks have a difficult choice facing them this summer. They have two key free agents in Charlie Villanueva and Ramon Sessions, and one of them is most likely going to be a casualty of the salary cap. The fact that the Bucks are looking very closely at every point guard available in the draft would make you think they're leaning towards letting Sessions walk, but it's far too early to know. In truth, the Bucks themselves haven't made the decision yet, and are holding out hope that they can find a way to keep both. That said, plenty of teams are starting to think about what Villanueva would look like in their uniforms. One of them might be the Cleveland Cavaliers.

The Cavs should go after Rasheed Wallace. A big who can shoot, play Defense and get rebounds. That would be scary.

No, the Cavs should go after Chris Bosh.

He looks like a 6-10 shooting guard in any uniform.

no way-
you don't bfing in a moody, declining talent onto your team
Wallace is nothing but a negative at this stage- I'd rather
re-sign bigZ than have wallace

CV would be interesting on this team......
not really a CV fan- but he might be the best AVAILABLE guy
for this team on the market.......
I just wouldn't want to pay him the $$ it likely will take

Big Z is good for a center but age, injuries , lack of plays run for him, tendency to not use his long frame and post inside, instead shoots long shots.
Ben Wallace is clearly worse when comparing the two at this stage of their career, he is just a major liability...
CV has skills and can score buckets...

From Dan Gilbert's statement yesterday they won't spend what it'll take to give LeBron the best team in the league so same or worse ending next season depending on how things go in Boston and Chicago.
Charlie Villanueva is the morden day Antoine Walker... he won't solve the Cavs need for interior defense... once again instead of spending on an impact player they're going the cheapo way...

This is good if they can get him at a good price because they need a forward other than LBJ that can score. They need a defender in the post though. I wonder if the Cavs are going to take the mentality that they are going to go for more points and sacrifice a bit of D.
Make The King the GM and keep him happy. I'm kidding... sort of.
Maybe the Cavs can have a "don't pick up the player option, Big Z" fundraiser. All the money raised goes to him if he decides to become a free agent.

Charlie V would be a nice pick-up...Varajao off the pine now instead of playing starter minutes...V coulda D'd up Hedo or Rashard better than Sideshow Bob did...PLUS he can create his own and woulda provided the scoring help LeBron needed since the plugs in the backcourt/off the pine did ZERO.

remember when Anthony carter and his agent forgot to opt-in to his final year player option, he then became a free agent and the Heat had enough Cap space to sign LO......good times.
Player options are too generous...but it's just the way of the business.

I like Charlie Villanueva but is he the piece to carrry the Cavs over the top? Anyway like C-Smith stated in post number 2 the player the Cavs should really go after is Chris Bosh. They might need to get another team involved in a trade but LeBron and Chris would be an excellent one-two punch.

Villanueva would be a huge plus to the Cavs front court. I would like to see them go hard after Chris Bosh, but the Raptors aren't going to let him go for anything the Cavs have to offer. I would much rather see them give Donnie Walsh a call about David Lee. If the Knicks were smart, Lee would be untouchable but we all know that isn't the case, and Lee could be had.

I agree- but what would the cavs have to give for Lee ?
Mo ? I doubt the knicks would want to take on his contract.

I really think that this CV for Cavs thought came about only because of Rashard Lewis or even Hedo. In hindsight, they feel like CV is long and quick enough to have guarded Lewis had they had him. Yes, CV would be interesting for them, but like most of you have said already, he is not The piece to the Cavs championship riddle.

Yup...Bosh would be a dream teammate for James. Lee would also be a very good addition (for a lot of teams). But help me out here...say Cavs did get Bosh wouldn't they have re-sign/renew him at same time as James? Will they have the flexibility to dish out two max contracts? I know they'd have to rid of Mo's contract; Wally is off the books; Wallace's expires in time?

Bosh would have to accept less money in order to latch on with a contender. Wallace and his contract would go--as does Szczerbiak. They could pay Bosh well--they just can't pay him what Toronto can pay him. The main reason I don't see it happening is because if Bosh opts out of his contract, the Raptors will trade him rather than allow him to walk with nothing in return. The Cavaliers have nothing to trade that Colangelo would accept.

Seriously?
Milwaukee would give away their best player for a washed-up big man, a nobody and the last pick in the draft? Maybe in the Larry Harris era, but not the John Hammond era.
If Toronto or Cleveland wants CV, then throw some paper at him.
Cleveland's got over $20 million/yr coming off the books this summer with the expiring contracts of Szczerbiak, Varejao, Wright & Smith. Next year another $19 million/yr comes off the books from Wallace and Pavlovic and that doesn't include LeBron's current $15 million. That seems like enough to keep LeBron and sign Bosh.
