Bosh bulking up for free agency

Chris Bosh is listed at a generous 230 pounds and yesterday he told reporters that he'll be spending part of his off-season trying to get bigger and stronger. The way the 25-year-old Bosh was talking yesterday -- when he shot down talk of a contract extension this summer -- he is preparing for free agency in 2010, when he'll be in line to sign the biggest deal of his career. While he set the odds at "good" that he'll be back in Toronto after next summer -- the Raptors, after all, can pay him more than any other team -- it's hardly a guarantee.

Screams TRADE.

Trade Bosh for the Coyotes to Hamilton.

June 5, 2009  07:19 AM ET

Luol Deng, Tyrus Thomas an Aaron Gray for Bosh please!!!

I really like Chris Bosh. He is a good player and a good citizen. The difficult questions for the Raps are: 1) is he worth max dollars? and 2) will they lose him for nothing in 2010? The big problem for Colangelo is that if they trade Bosh this summer, the team loses credibility with the Fans.

I agree, but unfortunately for Toronto, they don't have credibility with NBA free agents either...

Its the way it is in todays game. Free agents choose more than the team that gives them the best chance to win, they choose contracts and markets.

CHris Bosh is still young and will fill out and become a beast in his prime. Kevin Garnett was also notoriously thin and an underachiever for quite some time there. Today he has a ring. I would love for my squad to get ahold of Bosh, just for the future considerations. There ain't too many big men who can do what he do...name five if you can

I don't know, if you look at his production, its plateaued. I believe rebounds and points have decreased the past few years.

But your right, there aren't 5 other big men that I would rather have at this point in their career.

the answer is YES to both-
if he doesn't re-sign by next trade deadline they will HAVE
to trade him since that franchise cannot withstand him leaving
for nothing.....

I have no idea why some people do not realize what he brings to
the table-
TWENTY TEN
I mean there are LESS than a handful of guys that do this

He certainly isn't a LBJ/Kobe guy that can singlehandedly carry
your team to a championship (there are only THREE of those guys
in the entire league) But he is ABSOLUTLEY a player that you can
win a ring with if he has good players around him

Even fewer who are as young as Bosh...

And is NOT a defensive liability, like Amare. Has NOT been injury prone like Boozer. Is NOT as old as Duncan or Garnett.

Toronto,

Please visit the Smorgasboard of Detroit Players. Take your pick(s). Really, anything you want. Just send us Bosh.

Thanks,

Detroit Fan.

This is why Toronto has the advantage. Bosh could leave to go to a smaller market, or he could stay in one of the top 5 largest markets in the NBA for more money. Having said that, he won't be moved in the off-season. He could be moved a few weeks before the trading deadline when a sign and trade is worked out.

yup- he's only TWENTY FOUR
he's not even in his prime yet-

he will BY FAR be the biggest FA to move
and If I were EVERY team in the league- I'd call to find out
what Toronto wants for him.....

Huh ? please explain.....

June 5, 2009  09:09 AM ET

He won't be traded this offseason and unless they are looking at missing the playoffs again next season he won't be traded at the deadline either. The Raptors have the advantage next offseason anyways as they can pay him significantly more than anyone else. Worst case scenario is they sign and trade him next off season when he is a free agent.

June 5, 2009  09:12 AM ET

Bosh would make a very good complement to many different all star caliber players in the league......Marion JO both did not do him justice......

No offense to Toronto, Canada but despite it's market size nobody really cares about basketball there.

As I explained in my earlier post, when it comes to markets Toronto is one of the largest in the NBA.

They do, which is why they have one of the more passionate and largest fanbases in the NBA. Are they as big as the Leafs in the city? No, but given the massive size of the city, they have more NBA fans than the vast majority of cities in the NBA.

LMAO...kidding right? Keep begging...if the Raps do that, they might as well resign Rafael Araujo to play center...
