No truth to Stoudemire trade rumors

There has been plenty of trade speculation and rumors involving Amare Stoudemire lately. But unlike the week of the February trade deadline, none of this talk actually has involved the Suns. Reports that the Suns have been engaged in trade talks that would send Stoudemire to Boston or Washington are conjecture. They also probably are not the last of trade rumors for Phoenix, which is just as apt to move Shaquille O'Neal or Jason Richardson.

lol....there HAS been talk, but not by the suns ?
So, like, are they talking about US here on T&R ?

how about be patient and play out the next few years with this team?....the choice of coach would have to be the number one reason their season wasn't as successful, in my opinion.

Shaqs 20 mill is off the books next season........so its all smooth for them.....kepp being that run and gun, defensive team in short spurts.

Phoenix is so messed up anything that makes slight sense is believable... trading those players is inevitable. The whole league knows they aint going nowhere with their current squad... so they're waiting to pounce on their remaining assets... Stodemire, Barbosa and J-Rich will have to be traded in order to restore some form of direction for the franchise.

I can see Phoenix trading Shaq because he does have an expiring contract, even if it is worth 20 million. The Suns need to keep Amare and just build around him. His athleticism is perfect for that run and gun system of theirs and if they can find another athletic big man who is more of a defensive player then the Suns will be fine in their front court.

Totally disagree-
if all healthy- what team in the league really has a BETTER
starting 5 than them ???
there are only 2-3 better centers than shaq
Jrich is an above average 2guard
Nash is STILL a top 10 pg
Amare is a top 7 PF
- their SF is the only question- I'd honestly put BArbosa as the 2
and switch Jrich to the SF

YES they have defensive issues, yes they aren't perfect-
but there is NO REASON to break them up

The Wizards could really use a player like Stoudamire...they've got that #5 pick too.

June 5, 2009  11:41 AM ET

I heard that the Suns would trade Stoudemire to the Lakers for Mbenga and a late second pick.

The big problem with Amare is his willingness to TRY and play D

There are far too many guys that are INCREDIBLY talented
that simply- for whatever reason- don't give it defensively

Tmac, Vince, Antoine Walker, etc.....
It is a BIG mistake to throw max $$$ at these type guys
Amare is a super talent- but I don't want him on my team for max $

got disagree with you there buddy, alot of starting 5's are better but the Suns could be a playoff team with their current team if they can just decide in how to play that is it they wont win a ring or go far in the playoffs but atleast they would make them if they just decided on who they want to keep and how they want to play period...

I hear ya-
I guess my point is really that to break this team up
would be un-necessary -
Even if they id unload the shaqs/nash's.....
they aren't going ot be getting back MAJOR talent-
they're going to be getting back picks, kids and veteran contracts
which will actually make them WEAKER in the short run.
- and then you're HOPING someone turns into gold

Good one. Sad thing is as a Lakers fan I wished it was possible.

June 5, 2009  12:31 PM ET

trade him to blazers for webster/frye and sergio plus 3 million and the 24th pick. they need to rebuild. nash is old. sergio will be a gd player for them in a run and gun offense. martell will replace raja bell w/his 3s and good d. frye cam replace stoudamire with his smooth outside shot and his close to 7ft tall. that will mk shaq more of a inside threat.plus they can trade the 24th pk w/richardson to move up in the draft and **** ty/lawson or curry. if they get the high pk w/the trade. the blazers will start winning ships w/amare while well oden is oden. let amare mentor oden.

I think the problem is he played his first 6 season under Mike Dantoni and picked up the habit where defense wasnt the main focus. Since he enter the league it has been pure offense and running up and down the court scoring high as a team but also giving up alot of points. Amare can and will be a force if he takes his d to another level and matches Garnett or Duncan defensive attitude mind set. Which I dont see it happening

As for the other guys I agree regarding max $$$ but I am a huge TMac fan and only wish the guy could of stayed healthy enough to show what he could of actually being capable of doing just like Grant Hill, its a shame with talented players as those two.

biased

June 5, 2009  02:40 PM ET

the real problem is they can't win with that up-tempo style with aging players and numerous failures from 2005-2009 and i think they have realized that... They also can't win in a half court style with nash as the pg... At his age/ athleticism level he can't play any D n e more (if ever) which means he is a defensive liability... Phoenix has to hide him defensivley on every posession and against elite level teams thats hard to do... if i were the gm i would to quote Kobe Bryant "ship his ass out"...
