07:53 AM ET 06.06 | Allen Iverson is set to become an unrestricted free agent. Larry Brown is now coaching the low-scoring Bobcats, and Iverson was recently spotted in Charlotte. It's fueled speculation that Iverson, who had a difficult season in Detroit after his November trade from Denver, could be paired with Brown again. "I want him go to where he knows he can win," Brown said. "I think from my standpoint, I don't know if we're ready to win at the level I think a kid at his age, what he's done, should have. I want to see him go where he could win a championship." But Iverson's agent, Leon Rose, said his client would be willing to play for Brown again.

Iverson needs a coach with superior persona and Larry brown fits just right.

The Bobcats are one of the few teams that has more to gain considering the risk.

i think this is brown saying he doesn't want iverson on his team.

I'm not so sure about that CW92. It could just be a way of showing respect. Regardless, we know that Iverson isn't going to land a starting job on any of the top say... 8 teams in the NBA. If he wants an immediate chance for a championship he is going to have to accept the role of coming off of the bench. He has to ask himself what is more important, starting or winning.

June 6, 2009  08:45 AM ET

Ahh, the perfect way to wreck a team that has a chance to finally make the playoffs!

June 6, 2009  09:19 AM ET

It would be the best fit for A.I.

June 6, 2009  09:25 AM ET

Where he can win, the problem no team that 'can win wants his sorry butt. The way he threw in the towel with the Pistons, can you blame them.

June 6, 2009  09:33 AM ET

lol.....
he is basically sying the OPPOSITE - he doesn't want him.

"I want him go to where he knows he can win.....I don't know if we're ready to win

June 6, 2009  09:56 AM ET

also - I's agent saying he'd be willing to play for Brown again

....sure IF he was guaranteed a 2-3 year deal AND that he would be starting

Agreed it's the polite way of telling Iverson he's not welcome in Charlotte. Any team that gets Iverson will sell allot of tickets but loose allot of games - not to mention he'll destroy the locker room. Even for a championship team like LA, Boston, San Antonio, Orlando....it's not worth it.

He might as well join the NBA's pre-retirement team - Phoenix! They can use the drama.

June 6, 2009  10:49 AM ET

"I want to see him go where he could win a championship." --We all know that ain't gonna happen. Unless Iverson will accept that he is no longer a premier player in the NBA, and accept a backup role for maybe 20 minutes a night, he is finished. There is no team in the league where Iverson can "be the man."

There are no more fits for A.I., Vince or T-Mac anymore. Once they lost the athleticism or speed that made them so good, they are overpriced, selfish chuckers with giant contracts.

don't forget that they don't play D either
THAT is the most un-excusable part

Even if he doesn't make the Bobcats win, he can at least show he matured as a basketball player which to me is more important than simply joining on a championship calibur roster while sitting on the bench. He wouldn't necessarily be considered an overrated distraction his whole career (his practice rant is just an example).

lol...no offense- but its WAY too late for that.
and why would he change NOW ? he showed us all just this past
year that he wouldn't

AI is not the answer in this case, at best he should be considered a ticket seller. Iverson did bury himself in a hole, but I would argue that he deserves a golf clap if he can swallow his pride and be willing to be coached by Brown. It may not seem as great as winning a ring for a team as talented as the Celtics, but it is far more respectable.

June 6, 2009  12:18 PM ET

Larry Brown has been the only coach who had success with Iverson. Not only because he is superior but also because his ego can match with the AIrhead himself.
