New Wild GM reaches out to Gaborik

08:41 AM ET 06.06 | Chuck Fletcher still won't say who his coaching candidates are, but the new Minnesota Wild general manager did acknowledge today he has spoken to star winger Marian Gaborik. Gaborik is set to become an unrestricted free agent on July 1 but can negotiate exclusively with the Wild before then. When he was hired, Fletcher said he planned to reach out to Gaborik and his agent, Ron Salcer.

How is that a smart move? Any GM that they hired would reach out to him.

Gabbby needs to sign a one year extension and then stay healthy for a whole season. If he can do that then ask for a big money contract. Fletcher shouldn't even offer him one till he can prove he can stay healthy.

Gaborik is not as soft as you might think. I observed, on tape, him doing a standing broad-jump, the guy is a stud. Surgery has healed his hip. Minnesota had better sign this guy though I think the NYR sign him this Free Agency Period.
