Tennessee football Coach Lane Kiffin may have committed a sixth NCAA secondary recruiting violation since his hiring, this one resulting from a segment featuring him on ESPN's "Outside the Lines." During the segment first televised Sunday morning, Kiffin is shown meeting and talking with a recruit. At the end of the segment about Kiffin, ESPN's Bob Ley, host of the show, brought the possible violation to light.

Attention FN! We're sick of this topic. No more Kiffin threads unless either 1) he's accomplished something productive that might affect Tennessee's performance on the field, or 2) he's done something bad enough that it might actually result in a significant penalty.

Maybe ESPN shouldn't have shown that. Seems a bit like entrapment to me. But then again, I'm biased.

No kidding Batman.

Somebody needs to punch somebody at ESPN in the nuts.

I'm with Germ: Kiffen Fatigue set in a month ago.

Knowing Kiffin's media addiction, I'll bet he set it up. It's about time to create some positive pub though, coach.

I agree.. ESPN talking heads are a joke... I hate watching them... Damn cant they just report sports... But Kitten might have been using them :)...

VFH... I heard my Tigers stole a pretty good LB this weekend from TN... Thank you Chavis

I gotta question, if Kiffin sets up a stripper pole in his living room, and has some co-eds there to "entertain" recruits. Would that be considered a violation???

Maybe Lane should take a break till late July. Just let his wife take over the recruiting for a few weeks. I'm sure she could get a few boys to sign up!

hey Vols fans... had enuff yet?

All the secondary violations won't mean anything and people will keep committing them until the NCAA actually punishes someone.

I think it might be.. But if he lets Layla slide down the pole and call it dinner for the recruits.. It will be ok

Wait a minute..... Fulmer isn't the head coach anymore?

June 8, 2009  09:54 AM ET

I saw something about this yesterday. Supposedly the NCAA contacted ESPN as this was going on. And according to a report Kiffin is good with all the publicity as he thinks some is better than none

That is correct. Kiffin supposedly does not care about this type of violation because he wants publicity of any kind. Since TN has been off the radar he is trying to bring it back on by any means.

After giving up cable and going retro rabbit ears, the only thing I saw of ESPN at home were commercials for Sports Center.* Many of these were clever. My favorites include carrying the injured gymnast around (post 1996), and the Manning brothers messing with each other.

Hummingbird-of-the-south has hit on a great thematic concept for the next generation of ESPN ads - little people punching ESPN announcers in the pills. Gymnasts, jockeys, midgets, dwarves, kids - each with a bone to pick - punching the offending announcer in the groin. Punching and the difference in stature provide fertile commedic material that can be parlayed into a successful ad campaign, whereas kicking an announcer in the wedding tackle lacks the dimensions for an extended campaign. Maybe this could be a send off for the campaign - the announcers are gathered to lament the little folks aim and resulting punches in their nibbly bits (one could be positioning an icebag during this brief segment), as they depart and go their separate ways, each gets kicked in the noodle basket by various average-sized folks with a beef. The short runtime version could play like a collage - bam! bam! bam! bam! bam! etc.

*For games, there's a couple of bars within walking distance of home, and, of course, invitations from friends with Uverse and monster TVs.
