07:40 AM ET 06.09 | The Insider is hearing that Philadelphia Union, which joins MLS next year, has approached former D.C. United midfielder Josh Gros about a front office job. Gros, 26, was a starter from 2004 through 2007 but forced to retire because of head injuries. He subsequently pursued a civil engineering career in the Washington area and, this year, also became an assistant coach for the PDL's Northern Virginia Royals. Gros, who grew up in the Harrisburg area, played for Union Coach Peter Nowak at DCU and assisted him at times with the U.S. under-23 squad.

I'd be a decent move. He won't be MVP of the league, but he'll do OK if you want a solid footballer.

"about a front office job"

he'd be going there to work with the team, not be on it

Need more soccer guys in front office roles...someone that actually knows what it was like to be a player. Instead of guys with economic degrees and playing experience of intramural soccer in college.

And from what I recall, Gros was a very smart player who maximized his physical talents. Those types of players often make the best front office people becuse they've thought so much about all aspects of the sport.

I look at me avatar and still can't see why this is in T&R.

I do feel bad for these players with head injuries that force them to quit. Why couldn't Brett Favre had a few concussions last year? I am tired of seeing him on every sports site/blog on the internet.

Why doesn't he put on one of those girlie-head-protectors on and keep playing? He's only 26 and was a good player. I kid about the "girlie" part. Eskandarian wears one and god knows he's a manly guy (snirk.....)....

FOTG: I like the way you started your post: "I look at me avatar..."

Aye aye matey, shiver me timbers, I didn't realize it was talk like a pirate day, arghhh. As for Favre... I donno, I think it goes away soon. Doesn't sound like Brett is too happy with the healing process...

Where's the 'Is Bob Bradley off the hot seat?" T&R?

A little known fact: You can change your language on Facebook to pirate if you scroll down and change it. Works every day of the year.

No, I meant a new one. The string on "Is Bradley ON the hot seat?" After the Honduras game, we should have a new string "Is he OFF the hot seat?"

Yeah, but that would be too popular--and FN likes to only post a real quality T&R once a month...
