07:34 AM ET 06.11 | Brian Burke's broom continued sweeping all corners of the Maple Leafs organization the past few days with more changes on the way: - Three members of the training staff, including seven-year strength coach Matt Nichol and head athletic therapist Rudy Cantu, are out. - Two pro scouts, Pat Conacher and Dennis Bonvie, will not be offered new contracts, though the door remains open a crack. - French Canadian goalie guru Francois Allaire, who brought the butterfly style into vogue with Patrick Roy and helped Jean-Sebastien Giguere to a Cup with Anaheim, has left the Ducks to work for Toronto. Whether he's the carrot that gets Swedish free agent Jonas Gustavsson to sign here or if Allaire gets a chance to work with the troubled Justin Pogge, remains to be seen. - Corey Hirsch, who was goaltending coach, will move to a scouting/player development role. - A new director of player personnel will soon be named, vacant since Al Coates left shortly after Burke's arrival as president and GM. Those moving on or re-assigned included personnel from the Pat Quinn, John Ferguson and Cliff Fletcher management regimes. Assistant GM Joe Nieuwendyk, who was Fletcher's protege, already departed for Dallas to become GM of the Stars.

Didn't they try to do this already?

June 11, 2009  08:14 AM ET

So when is he going to get rid of Wilson?

In related news, sources say that Burke has just offered his gardener a 7 year, $67 million contract

DEAL!!!!

What about his makeup and hair person?

June 11, 2009  08:57 AM ET

If I was Jonas Gustavsson, I'd sign with Toronto for the single reason that they brought in Francois Allaire. He, along with his brother Benoit, is the best goaltending coaches, hands down. Jonas knows that Francois Allaire worked with Roy, a childhood hero of Jonas. I think it's every goalies dream to be coached by one of the Allaire-brothers.

Hopefully it turns things around for the team, but I hope he makes some changes there too. The trainers aren't the ones skating.

June 11, 2009  09:28 AM ET

He already said he wont bring back Pogge. That is a big mistake because he is still very young and many goalies take lots of time to become developed.

He certainly needs to do something about their scouting dep't, which has been just awful for as long as I can remember - who was the last real good homegrown Leaf talent?

But, with all this juggling and replacing - including the need for a new Director of Player Personnel that they mentioned - where exactly does Dave Nonis end up fitting in? What is the point of having an ass't gm if you also have a director of player personnel?

The last one that was good is Kaberle? and going further back maybe Wendal Clarke?

The Leafs have terrible scouting.

Once he completes his purge, it will be nobody's fault but his.

Love the house cleaning. This was need long ago. Quinn was ok, Ferguson was the worst thing since the Ballard era, Felch made some mistakes but was a good change. Now go get the monster Burke and Leafs Nation should be happy with almost anything that happens in the draft.

The Leafs have HAD terrible scouting.

Under Burke's eye, this will change dramatically. They have already signed Hanson, Bozak and possibly Gustaffsson (we'll see), players that would never have been approached by previous GMs. Burke has a reputation of getting all hands on deck when assessing minor league talent.

If the Leafs can add Brayden Schenn this year, it will be a great pickup. Things will start looking up in Toronto. It just takes time. Burke will deliver on his promise of getting tougher and better.

'Zactly.

Not true.

Leaf draftees have gone elsewhere and been productive NHL players. Leaf player development has been the biggest disappointment, players do not develop in the AHL. This also will change under Burke.

......or he'll reap the praises, I for one hope he can do it, just like the Blackhawks re-surgence, it's good to see these old franchises doing well!

Why does the word "purge" make me think of Uncle Joe Stalin? meh....

It was in my mind as I typed it.

I think Burke is working on the rivalry with the Hamilton Tigers! :-)
