08:25 AM ET 06.19 | The University of Florida football team committed two secondary NCAA violations in the last 12 months for improper contact with recruits. Florida self-reported violations in June 2008 and January 2009 for instances involving Coach Urban Meyer and an assistant, according to school records obtained by the Orlando Sentinel through a public records request. Meyer and a Gators assistant violated NCAA bylaw 13.1.3.1.1 after placing a call to the same prospect. Florida reported the violation on June 3, 2008. The NCAA rule states telephone contact is limited to once per week outside of a contact period. The identity of the recruit is unknown.

Maybe Kiffin was right about the Pope..

This is probably the tip of the ICEBERG as far as recruiting violations go. When has a school ever self reported BIG violations? From what I have heard from others that are deep into recruiting, the SOUTH is keen on ignoring NCAA rules for recruiting. Pigs are cleaner than the coaches in the South and some in the Midwest (Tressel).

Just curious if any body has ever seen this rulebook??? With that many subsections under a freakin bylaw, the damn thing must be like War and Peace.

This coming from a Michigan fan? You are joking right?

Didn't you have to vacate wins from 5 seasons because of "lack of institutional control" during the Fab Five days? This was one of the biggest scandals in the history of collegiate sports. The FBI, IRS and Department of Justice investigated.

Pot calling kettle.

OK Warden....just remember.....you started it.Florida is not considered a Southern state. There are far more Yankees than Southerners living there. The northerners can be identified by the spit on the inside of their car's windshield that comes from yelling at other drivers.Q: How do you get a Michigan grad off your front porch? A: Pay for the pizza.Q: What happens to Michigan fans who take Viagra? A: They grow taller.Q: What does the average Michigan grad get on their SAT/ACT's? A: Drool.Q: What do you call a Michigan cheerleader with two brain cells? A: Pregnant.Q: What do you get when you have a basement full of Michigan fans? A: A Whine Cellar. Q: What are the three hardest years in the life of a Michigan Wolverine fan? A: Second Grade. I heard that Lloyd Carr only dressed 35 players every Saurday. The rest learned how to dress themselves by their sophomore year.Last but not least, what is a Yankee? The same as a quickee... but a guy can do it by himself.

No fair corrupting Aggie jokes! We will need them if anyone from College Station ever figures out how to turn on the school's computer, and joins us.

Two phone calls in a week when they were only allowed one? And they probably ****ed up in coordinating who was supposed to call? This isn't a tip of an iceberg. It's not even a decent sized shaving. Nor is it newsworthy.

I found something worse than the 24 arrests under the Urban Liar regieme:

in the same period of time, Georgia has had 30 arrests!!! wtf?

SEC needs to learn some discipline.

They are trying to imitate Miami I guess.

Check out Penn State's recent track record. More than both of those schools.

If they were trying to imitate Miami, they would only have 2 in the same period.

Or we could wait for decades to have one of the Fab Five detail the serious violations that occurred on their team.

You're on the ball King. Guess I should have read your comment first.

A weak day in T&R. Seriously, that extra call could have been as simple as a redial by accident or an "I thought I was supposed to call him not you"

I think some of these recruiting rules are a bit ridiculous. These type of "violations" are so petty, they should make some changes to simplify it. No one can really keep track of them...there are so much.
