The Bulls have held trade talks with several teams about packaging the 16th and 26th picks into one higher selection, with two league sources insisting the target is Duke shooting guard Gerald Henderson.

You do this if you are comfortable with not signing Gordon-if Gordon stays this move doesnt make sense. Looking at the Bulls roster they have a bunch of swingman on their roster and packaging the picks for a veteran would be the sound thing to do.

My thought exactly, and before last years playoffs, i would have let gordon go, but he showed me he is a real gamer against the celtics, hitting big shot after big shot. I think that this would be a step back for the Bulls, if they let Ben Gordon go.

Gordon & his agent are pricing BG at Deng type contract, which is to HIGH A PRICE $ 8m to $ 11m per year : Talking trading down : NETS #11 last year #11 Bayless $1,993,560 : WASH #5 last year # 5 Kevin Love $3,163,680 : IF CHI stays #16 last year #16 Marreese Speights $1,542,600 : And Ben Gordon after saying NO to CHI two years in a row on a long term deal, maybe Gar Forman does not want to deal with BG agent : Maybe NOT taking a long term deal last year BG will be hearing Gar brother Red comment " DUMB ASS "

Ben did shoot himself in the foot before he turned down the 50 mil or so ...bad timing with a crap economy

June 23, 2009  08:01 AM ET

Ben will mos likely fire his agent, take his real market value - something in the 30 to 40 million range for 5 years then retire mentally and physically like Larry Hughes and Eddy Curry.... I feel bad for the team that will sign him already...

June 23, 2009  08:38 AM ET

You're comparing Ben Gordon, a proven playoff performer, to Larry Hughes and Eddy Curry, two of the biggest underachievers in the league?

June 23, 2009  08:48 AM ET

Lostwill is definitely LOST...Ben Gordon puts up numbers every year...and if he gets paid for 5 years, he will perform all of those years and could be a potential All-Star. Larry Hughes & Eddy Curry? please

June 23, 2009  08:51 AM ET

didn't the bulls learn the price of having an undersized 2 guard?
they have a PROVEN scorer in Gorden, and they're going to
take a chance on another small 2 guard with no NBA exoperience?

June 23, 2009  09:02 AM ET

The Bulls are looking to move up in the draft and the rumors are they are targeting the Nets slot at number 11.

However, if the Bulls really want Henderson, I could say they could target that 8th slot.

Yeah, I want the Knicks to move down. They got too many needs and they could use the two picks.

June 23, 2009  09:15 AM ET

Exactly what the Bulls need...another SG...LOL...why don't they draft a "big" man that can actually score inside or may have the potential to score inside as opposed to clowns like Tyrus & Noah???

June 23, 2009  09:20 AM ET

Say goodbye to Ben Gordon...but I am a fan of Gerald Henderson. He could be a good backup to John Salmons at the 2 position.

You must be thinking of someone else : From CHI pre draft camp : Gerald Henderson, 6' 5" in shoes, 214.6 wt vs Ben Gordon at 6' 3"

No - maybe in heels he's 6'5.......lol

There is a good chance Henderson is going to be available at pick #16 so they might not even have to trade to get him.

You call a bunch of kids in college real competition? Playing against seasoned pros in Spain and Europe is real competition, not playing against overhyped and underskilled children whose claim to fame is some bizarre tournament dominated by four or five schools.
Oh, but I forget: you're one of those Americans that forgets that the US couldn't win any international tournament between 2000 and 2008 against what you think is not "real competition". And even in 2008 the mighty US just about managed to scrape a win against crappy Spain in spite of having the very very best players in the NBA.
American dominance is fading away: in basketball, in politics, in economics, in culture. Wake up and smell the coffee.

Response
Great a loyal Spaniard!! This is a basketball site and my points are about basketball! I am not trying to be sensitive to Spanish head cases ****. However, you maybe right about American dominance. The best example is Spain and Europe! Once world powers but Spain has suck-ked every since the Spanish Armada sank before getting to the English channel. Also from 2000 to 2008 they were all running my presidents bath water and wiping his nose. I could go on forever about politics and economics but again this is a basketball site, not CNN! I have a blog at the times! Come there and I will expand your **** for you!

Now! About your competition point! You have your opinion. It is not shared by the majority! So okay thanks for your worthless information! If the quality of basketball was so great over there, so many would not fail playing here, in the US!

My points about Rubio are from a basketball standpoint only!!! Don???t be so sensitive! Sweetie! I think you do okay in soccer! Well I think!

Why would you feel bad for whoever gets him? Hes a true baller, not like Larry Hughes or few more players I won't mention! All Gordon wants is to be paid fairly, whats the problem with that? He's not a troublemaker, you don't hear about him off the court, plays hard. What else do you want? Someone like Marbury who has never done anything in the league ie playoffs can make ridiculous bread, but Gordon who performs when it counts makes less dough than lets see, Kirk Hinrich!? If you don't like Gordon just say so, but don't down him cause thats hatin pimp!

I wanna know who will Chicago turn to in the clutch when they need a basket without Gordon? Someone tell me, please! Salmons? Hinrich?Rose?Thomas?

June 23, 2009  11:19 AM ET

Is Gerald Henderson really that good to package picks. He is athletic and has a good pull up J going to the right. But is he really that good. I know the bulls love to acquire Duke players like the Falcons use to love to acquire Virginia Tech players. Maybe it's UNC bias...*Note: if you are a duke fan, please do not answer!!!

June 23, 2009  11:44 AM ET

Not a good fit in Chicago playing time wise because this team is stacked with wing players. I dont know why they are interested. It just mean something though IMO, they are putting Luong Deng on the trade market.

So are you suggesting the Bulls to pay 11M to a guy that is going to come off the bench for you??? There is no doubt that Ben hit some big shots, but he also is an incredible liability on defense. And as for who can step in, I think Salmons/Rose can be that guy. Again Ben hit some big shots, but throughout the season we gave him the ball in the final seconds on numerous occasions and he just chucked the ball up. Finally, for those of you who want a big man, who can we get at 16? If anyone even thinks of saying Tyler Hansbrough I will have to counter with drafting a Jimmy John's Beach Club w/ jalapeno chips and a small mountain dew.

June 23, 2009  12:01 PM ET

I don't know what the Bulls are thinking. The Bulls are in the same position as Portland; allow some time to gain experience, this team is not that far away from contending.

June 23, 2009  12:04 PM ET

luol deng will be back next year, and gordons defencive limitations mean the bulls are likely to start salmons at the 2 and deng at the 3.
people talk about the celtics series, but forget that ray allen scored 51 with gordon guarding him and i dont think gordon was the bulls leading scorer in any of the games they won. Drafting a solid guard to come off the bench behind hienrich makes more sence than to pay gordon big money to be a bench scorer.
But what they really need is a LaMarcus Aldridge type player.
