North Carolina forward Tyler Hansbrough's stock is rising. While Atlanta, Utah and New Orleans have interest, he will likely get picked before they got a chance to snatch him.

could he be the most under-estimated player in the draft?...North Carolina? i guess Jordan will pick him then.

Its a matter of hustle vs talent....a great hustler with some talent, could help a team but dont look for him to score more than 15pts on any given night.

June 24, 2009  08:48 AM ET

I dont see how his game translates toi the NBA-will he be better than Kevin Love???

June 24, 2009  08:51 AM ET

It's 100% about where he goes.
He's actually very similar to David Lee- though not as athletic
- but he's got MUCH better offensive moves

If he goes to a place that he doesn't have to start day one-
he'll ABSOLUTELY find his niche and be a NBA'er for the next decade

Love is a product of being on a bad team-
he would not be starting on a team that was decent

TH won't start either- doesn't make him a bad player.....
you just shouldn't take him at the top of the draft

He would be a good fit for any of those teams. Athletic and he has heart. Those are some fine qualities for any solid team and the Hawks, Jazz, and Hornets are definitely solid teams.

I agrre with you. It's all about where he goes and what system he is in.

If I had to pick a team I would say that he would fit in good with San Antonio, Utah, or Houston. They all have coaches that gets the most out of all of there players.

Hansbrough is another of my sleepers in this draft. I like him or Earl Clark at #11 to the Nets.

Au Contraire Grasshopper--Love is a product of hard work. He would do the same thing anywhere.

June 24, 2009  09:27 AM ET

He won't be better than Kevin Love but he will be a solid bench player in the NBA for years.

No, he'll be as good as Wayne Simien.

It is a weak draft. Hansborough would have been at best a late first rounder or early second rounder.

Every year there are players that far exceed expectations. Rashard Lewis wasn't drafted at all. Ginobli, Arenas, Carlos Boozer--all 2nd round picks--and All Stars. Don't let a player's draft position do your thinking for you. Hansbrough is a stud.

Indeed...

... David Lee is a good comparison... but Lee is a little taller and 2 or 3 inches does make a big difference for NBA big men.... which is why Lee is probably the best rebounder per minute in the NBA.

Tyler may have a few moves (questionable), but his primary thing is force and desire straight to the rim. He's not big enough nor athletic enough to score with a Shaq or Dwight Howard type of offensive game... which is basically the way he scored in college.

I would probably take Jon Brockman out of Washington ahead of Hansbrough if I just needed a rebounder, banger and guy off the bench to play physical.

Brockman is more like David Lee in that his game is rebounding and defense first. He started to score more later in his college career... but he will definitely give you the inside battler that NBA teams would love off the bench.

His negative is being only 6'7"... but a good team can deal with that as long as he's coming off the bench.

Is he related to Chris Quinn?
They both look ten years old.
He was a beast in college but we all know how that turns out when they enter the grown man leauge.
Let's wait and see what happens.

Tyler is going to have a solid NBA career he may even win a championship before its all set and done, but he has the knowledge to learn and work hard, I like the guy and hope he does well

You have got to be kidding me. Won't make it in the NBA. Too soft.........

Get a clue Newbie, Hansbrough has all the intangibles. He's smart, handworking, and coachable. In addition he's a proven commodity, you don't accomplish all that he has to this point without being the real thing.
