Knicks eyeing Henderson, DeRozan

If Davidson guard Stephen Curry is gone before New York selects 8th, the Knicks would likely lean toward drafting Duke guard Gerald Henderson with USC forward DeMar DeRozan also getting strong consideration. While the Knicks have some interest in Italian Roma Lottomatica guard Brandon Jennings, there is talk he could drop to the mid-teens.

Which Knick will last the whole season with the organisation?

June 24, 2009  08:17 AM ET

Knicks have so many needs anybody they take will make sense. I just hope Nate Robinson and Jared Jefferies get traded soon.

That should probably say the knicks would likley lean toward drafting USC guard DeMar DeRozan with Duke guard Gerald Henderson also getting strong consideration. Ah, much better.

Trade Kenny Thomas and #4 for Chris Duhon, Jared Jeffries, and #8 and you've got either Curry or Rubio locked up.

The knicks have so many needs. No one i untradeable, start with players under rookie contracts and package them with one of the older bad contracts. I like the Holiday kid, but they need a winner, so henderson might be a good choice.

PLEASE stay away from Henderson......PLEASE
he's the SG equivalent to his buddy Duhon - a BACK-UP
we don't need TWO Back-up Dukies starting for us....

Knicks dont have a clue what direction they want to go in-they need a compass...

what are you talking about?
they have a clear direction-
DUMP contracts & get ready for 2010.....

Now I ain't saying it's the 'right' direction-
but it is a direction......

I like the idea of Jennings because a PG is needed to spell and eventually replace Duhon and even if Jennings is raw, he's got a star quality to him that would be appreciated at the Garden.

I also like DeRozan for much of the same reasons. He's athletic as all hell and he's got star potential to him.

I do not like Henderson. Solid player but I just don't see him being an eventual difference maker for the franchise like I can see with Jennings and DeRozan.

June 24, 2009  09:02 AM ET

DeRozan makes the most sense and other teams will regret some of the point guards they pick before him.

Agreed.

I agree with J.HOVA,but my question is whoever they get isn't going to change their lack of shotblocking presence down low what they really need.So the middle is going to wide open like a freeway. What's the point?

I agree with you, when you have Senile Donnie and Mike D'Anbumbie running thing you have wonder. After last year draft told everything about those two they were a center away from turning the corner.I'm a Knick fan painfully to say,I can't wait for both of these clowns to get fired

I hear you talking but i have to ask you who is going to supply the thing that Nate did off the bench,he was the Knicks best guard maybe their best player.

Spot On!! Obviously, past mistakes haven't taught them anything. Yesterday it was a point guard. Seems today they're thinking has changed. Anybody that doesn't know what their intentions are the day before the draft, is probably going to make the wrong move.

If he was that good we wouldn't be in the lottery in the first place. Secondly he is not a point guard and obvioulsy too short for a shooting guard... but the most compelling reason to trade him is his propensity to loose focus on the game aka napoleon complex... he is a great freak of nature that will sell tickets for allota teams that's why any team that wants him must also take the waste of nature also known as Jared Jefferies...

He is a good player that isn't the reason the Knicks are in the lottery as Senile Donnie. One thing they drafted his Mike's god son when they should have drafted a center.maybe then they wouldn't have to trade Crawford or Zach. And the biggest problem was signing Mike AnDumbie who likes to run a summer league offense with no defense included.

June 24, 2009  11:15 AM ET

knicks need to pull some special on this draft we need more the one pick come on donnie stop thinking about the lebron and company and give us team the compete now..lebron illusion to much of a risk!!!!!to keep saving for nothing

Great point but unless Thabeet falls to number 8, there isn't a big man in this draft that can help them in the middle.

Agreed. Gallinari was a mistake. I probably didn't say this a year ago but I will give Hllywd his props now for tauting Brook Lopez as much as he did. A legit big man shouldn't have fell to the Nets at number 10. He should have been taken at 6.

Gallo might prove himself of some worth in the years to come but Lopez would have been the better pick in hindsight. However, that is the key word here: hindsight.
