With Rajon Rondo's name continually popping up in trade rumors, Celtics president Danny Ainge spoke once again this morning about his point guard, stressing his value to the team while also saying "he's got to grow up" in some areas and making other critical comments. Ainge said Rondo needed to take more of a leadership role and revealed the 23-year-old was fined for showing up late to a playoff game.

If Tashyaun Prince was younger a straight up deal would work but Rondo makes the Clets exciting an as a Kings Fan I knew Excitment for awhile, Boston still needs to keep him an dump Allen an his contract.

I doubt the Celtics would do anything - Boston globe must be feeling that recession (Newspaper Sales)

Ainge just be honest and say you can't possibly see how you can resign him with immovable Pierce and Garnet on the roster. We all know it's about the money... don't make it ugly by saying unncecessary things... late for a game or not he was the best Celtic in the post season.

He is loved in Boston for his speed and defense so don't ruin his reputation with the fans. Business is business... no need to get corky!

As wrong as it is to say this, with a talent like Rondo you kind of have to put up with some attitude/discipline issues. Plus he's still a young dude.

If the Celts dump Ray Allen, as a Wizards fan I would hope we'd be all over Ray before he goes to Orlando or worse, Cleveland.

I hate repeating myself but there is no circumstance that I can conceive of that makes trading Rajon Rondo plausible. I have no qualms with trading Ray Allen if it helps you get a little younger and clear cap space but you do not need to throw in Rondo to make an Allen deal happen.

I know the rumors say that Rajon and the organization has some issues but they need to work that out. You just dont trade 23 year old talents that are only getting better. You just don't do that!

i hate rondo but i dont like the way ainge is bad mouthing him. we didn't hear any of this when they won the championship last year

June 25, 2009  08:53 AM ET

If Rondo get a jumper.. He will be top 5 PG in the NBA.

And it's hard to be a leader when you have 3 alpha dogs on your team. KG, Pierce, and Jesus.

I can't stand boston but Rondo is a pretty good assett to have in your backcourt.

The only reason Ainge is still around is because he was spoonfed KG and ray allen. If it is not broken then don't try to fix it.

June 25, 2009  08:53 AM ET

I agree with Angie but I also disagree...How can he take a leadership role with KG, Paul, and Ray doing that all ready...I understand he is the PG..but what Angie is forgetting is tha they wouldnt have even got out of the Bulls series if it wasnt for Rondo..

This could really put a fire underneath him-maybe they're trying to ground him somewhat-he still is young. Nothing to be worried about...

This man is on to something!!!

If Rondo gets traded, Boston will be better because they will get some major pieces in return. If the rumors are true, Boston is asking a lot for him like Gay and Conley. Boston is just trying to bait somebody into a deal that the Celtics think would make them a better team.

I hadn't heard that, but whatever the problem, Ainge needs to sit down with Rondo, and deal with it. They can't get equal value for him, and Boston has no 1st round draft pick. Even if they did,we're talking about a crap shoot. If the Celtics intend to come back this year, they will be hurt a lot more than Rondo by this move.

June 25, 2009  10:30 AM ET

Why would you trade a 23 year old point guard who was 1/2 of a rebound and 1/2 of an assist away from averaging a triple-double in the playoffs? He had to guard Derrick Rose on one end and then try to beat him off the dribble on the other end, playing without KG, this kid is a stud. I am Knicks fan and if Rondo is available I say trade Lee, 8th pick, and whatever else they want for this guy, he is a cornerstone. A tall PG who can pass, defend, and is improving his shot, he should not be traded at all. Ainge would be stupid to move this guy.

June 25, 2009  10:31 AM ET

I think rondo is the future and we need to take the good with the bad. He is worth keeping. I know we need to make a deal to be competitive. Hopefully we can make a deal that helps the Celtics win this coming year.

June 25, 2009  10:31 AM ET

I dont like Rondo and dont see why the Celtics would be trading him but I have to say he is a very good point guard, he is quick, has a nice lay up, his jumper isnt consistant but he will set you up and run the offense, seems as the Celtics dont want to pay him since payday is coming up for Rondo

June 25, 2009  10:32 AM ET

No way you trade a rising talent like Rondo, by far the best player the C's put on the court this year and most consistent.

June 25, 2009  10:50 AM ET

Rondo got the job done on the court when it counted in the playoffs. I think Ainge is showing his idiot side again. The Celts have a strong starting line up but they are weak in the bench. I don't know how trading Rondo is going to help Boston?

Huh?
prince for rondo AND something....

Prince is a better player NOW than Rondo- the celts would have to give up more than just rondo for him.......jeez

And anyway- they don't NEED prince.
If anything they need a GUARD-

Bad karma brewing here. Stupid Ainge.
