The Charlotte Bobcats are for sale and Michael Jordan is interested. First, he has to put an ownership group together. Addressing the issue on Thursday night for the first time since the news last month that majority owner Bob Johnson is seeking to sell, Jordan shied away from going into detail about his plans. But Jordan, who holds a minority stake in the team and runs basketball operations, made it clear he'd like to gain majority control.

Pocket change for MJ

June 26, 2009  09:16 AM ET

if him OWNING a team is as 'sucessful' as running it........
MJ is going to need a federal bailout in 6 months

In all fairness they have improved over the last 3 years.

I mean- yes- from GOD AWFUL to mediocre.
But that roster is not build for any more improvement-
they have maxed out and will be stuck in mediocrity until blown up

6 months may be stretching it. This team is hemorrhaging money, and the arena is empty. They should probably apply now to beat the rush.

If Jordan get majority control then the Bobcats will probably fall to the Clippers-OKC level. they were starting to turn it around there. But is MJ pick one more Kwame brown type player then he should be banned from the NBA.

MJ is an executive muppet. Who cares what he buys?

June 26, 2009  10:48 AM ET

Good for MJ if he can pull it off. Owning a NBA team would be great. I wish I had that type of cash.

woah woah woah dont put the clippers and OKC together like that. OKC is well run, well coached, and has extremely talented young players. The Clippers have the cheapest owner, worst coach/GM, and players who dont like each other

On another note, any idea where (if anywhere) MJ would move the team? Seems like the best move if he wants to sell some tickets
