Hornets shopping Chandler again?
Four months after his trade to the Oklahoma City Thunder was rescinded, the New Orleans Hornets have apparently resumed trade talks for center Tyson Chandler. According to multiple league sources, the Hornets were involved in trade talks this week with the Cleveland Cavaliers regarding Chandler, but no agreement was reached. On Thursday morning, Hornets officials declined to say if they had been in trade discussions with Cleveland or the Suns to possibly obtain O'Neal.

I don't see the Suns or Cavs wanting him right now. This is more of a three day old story than anything else.

I know Chris Paul hits him with those big oops - but he really isn't a post up option - has only averaged over 10 points per game once.
Also he is more of a shot alterer than a shot blocker, last two seasons just 1.2 blocks per game.
His biggest strength is his rebounding and length - but just 8.7 rebounds last season compared to over 11 the previous two seasons - so he is a risky asset.

I don't know how serious the injuries are but there seems to be a drop-off in his play. When Mourning had his injuries you still admired his intensity, I am not sure about this guy.

He would be a PERFECT guy in Miami.....
He's a valuable commodity for a team that needs a center now

Chandler is a bit over-rated. All his points are off from Chris paul. He has no go to moves.

This story is completely irrelevant now, Cavs just go Shaq, and the Suns seem to be shopping Amare now, maybe he'll get traded back to the Thunder sometime soon.

I would consider this trade:
- Oneal & Blount & 2 future picks (MIA) for Chandler & Peterson & Stojakovic (NO)
NO gets enormous capspace for next year and 2 bigs to fill in the frontcourt. plus Oneal could regain some of his production, while playing along 2 all stars. Thus they will be loosing on a value for value perspective.
MIA gets a true C and 2 proven players to come of the bench. Thus they would be absorbing many long term contracts.

Nope. Chandler does not represents the Interior OFF & DEF presence Shaq does, even as of now. And he would only be there for this year, giving them plenty of capspace flexibility.
On the other hand, CLE need a big man who can nail it from mid and long distance, Jamison maybe ? and or a SG with size and athleticism who can also nail it from mid & long distance. So they can move West back to the bench and his best suited position.

All the rumors, all the draft picks that never happened makes the next few days bearible until 7/1 then the frenzy happens again. I've heard how good the Cavs are how bad the Cavs are etc. The Cavs needs are now to resign Varejo for their price look to get another big to round out the front court rotation & then sign a big 2 guard. However looking at the Cavs a few days ago B.Wallace was where Shaq is now & Pavlovic was in & out the guard rotation being replaced at times by Kinsey. So in the draft the Cavs drafted two Pavlovic style players Eyenga listed at 6'6" or 6'5" & D.Green also listed at 6'6" So I say the Cavs seem to be improved. My targets are Turkoglu, R.Wallace, Jamison, Villanueva, etc. & McGrady, Artest, J.Richardson, G.Wallace, etc or entertain thoughts of a J.Kidd wanting to play with Lebron & Shaq.

If anyone is wondering behind the scenes of team labled old the Cavs seem to have a good group of youngsters. From this years draft SF/SG's Eyenga & D.Green last years draft produced SF/PF's JJ.Hickson & D.Jackson then sprinkle in SF J.Williams & SG T.Kinsey with M.Williams, D.West, B.Gibson, Varejo & L.James it seems a fairly young team. The only age being Shaq & Z both in their last year. Its Championship for them or nothing. Bosh is the planned replacement there in 2010-2011 season & the only way L.James will stay.

It's possible with the Suns, because if the Hornets are interested in a pure salary dump then Chandler for Ben Wallace does work straight up.
Anyway, it's sad that the Hornets have to break up their core for salary cap reasons. They should be adding to that team, not subtracting.

The Hornets are not interested in winning; it's more important to George Shinn to make money. If you have one of the dominant teams in the league; why would you want to deplete the team and take away its chance of winning. If this is not a message to Chris Paul, then shame on him. David West should also be aware of his position with the team and when free agency approaches be sure to leave at all cost, because ownership does not have their best interest. Maybe its Byron Scott's best interest to leave as well and probably why the assistant coach for many years have left already.

True. He might also fit into Golden State's style of play, though they don't have much chance of getting him.
