Knicks Robinson, Lee in limbo?

David Lee and Nate Robinson, it may be time to pack your bags. With Stephen Curry off the board, taken at No. 7 by Golden State, the Knicks added to their power-forward stable by selecting athletic 6-foot-10 Arizona stud Jordan Hill -- a player coach Mike D'Antoni compared with Amare Stoudemire -- with the eighth pick. Hill's arrival allows the Knicks flexibility in deciding whether to re-sign Lee or use him in a sign-and-trade when he becomes a free agent on July 1. Lee's future became even more clouded because the Knicks finalized their trade with Memphis, obtaining 7-foot center Darko Milicic for Quentin Richardson and cash.

it's only clouded because he hasn't got an extension (yet) - but his role has hardly been reduced.

It is all about having leverage just in case Lee and Nate asking price is too much.I don't know to much about Jordan Hill or Toney Douglas hopefully they turnout to be good players.Thank you Senile Donnie for getting rid of Q that guy was pure garbage, not like Darko any better but he does have height.

I really like the draft picks especially Toney Douglas... you hardly find a 6' 2'' point guard that averages 21ppg. Jordan Hill is a real beast add Darko and you have balancced roster and the flexibility to use Nate and Lee as pawns to get rid of Jefferies and Curry. Good job Donnie & Mike. I can't wait for next season already!

They have added size which is good, but time will tell if they play inside with the same heart as David Lee.

June 26, 2009  08:24 AM ET

I love the Knicks draft, but more so for Hill....hes very physical, and scores inside and out, and 6-10 and athletic...nice

June 26, 2009  08:45 AM ET

maybe they can package nate and fat curry for Flynn and whatever throw in minnesota wants to do

June 26, 2009  08:55 AM ET

Knicks fans were being stupid at the draft. even if curry was available they probably would've still
taken hill. perfect d'antoni pick

I hear ya-
but I don't even think it is that complicated.......

Hill is a big- who'll need to get stronger before he can play-
they were simply going for the 'best available' at that point-
Donnie said after the draft that when Steph & hill were left
that he felt like 'he couldn't lose' - which IMO translates into
no bearing on Lee's future....they just got a big body-

I'm not sold on Hill.....but other than maybe going for Derozan
it was the right pick for us......

As far as TD- I thought he was more of a 2 guard, rather than
a point....but the move itself was a good one- though I'd have
looked at Sam Young at that spot- who is ready to play NOW

The naivity on these boards amazes me. The Knicks should do whatever it takes to get Rubio and Curry in their backcourt running in tandem. Bottom line, I don't care what picks you have to give up next year, what money you have to put up. The only player they should not give up on their team is David Lee.

Nate Robinson and the rest of the gang can go. If you are going to rebuild, then darn it...rebuild. With Curry, Rubio, and Lee you have a new Knicks identity and a playoff run.

I am going to speak for everyone on here. Please never post another comment in your life!

i dont understand why knicks want to send lee so much. he is a good white rebounder who plays with heart. he is so marketable.

This is why FANS don't run teams.

After getting Darko, now more than ever, the Knicks need to get a deal done to keep Lee. Darko, Jefferson, and Lee form a decent front court. Lee has earned his payday. If the Knicks won't give it to him somebody else will.

Keeping it Ghetto, honestly I don't think you realize the talent that Rubio has. He is an excellent ball handler and passer. Curry is the purest shooter in the draft. The only other player I would say is a good fit would be Jonny Flynn possibly for Rubio's position. But Rubio is younger, a better ball handler and passer.

I am glad that the knicks did not get Brandon Jennings. The guy acts like marbury to me.

June 26, 2009  09:34 AM ET

GREAT DRAFT! Everybody said they were gonna be terrible last year ,they were bad but not as bad as last year you seen promise for shure.Adding Bosh next year to the mix with the promising Chandler with Hill watch out

Quick story...when I was a wee lad, the Mets had an outfielder named Lee Mazzilli. He was most of our favorite player, hard-nosed kid ran the bases well - a touch of occasional power. What we didn't entirely realize was that he wasn't really that good. But because his team lost 90 games a year, he was the de-facto best guy on it. Thinking back, he wouldn't have even been a bench player on the Red Machine or the Family Pirates. He wouldn't have made the roster.

So...is David Lee really a guy who can deliver 17/12 consistently wherever he goes...or is he Lee Mazzilli? Is he a guy who has played on such bad teams that he is the de-facto go-to guy? Does he even break the rotation on a dozen other teams?

Don't get me wrong. I like Lee. I'm just not certain if which is the chicken and which is the egg. Someone's gotta score and grab rebounds, and the best guy on a crappy team is not always the best indicator of talent. Just throwing that out there.

I agree with the Jennings pick. I think that guy is going to be a HUGE bust. He already has a me-me-me attitude.

But to say you want a Rubio AND Curry running your backcourt is just horrible. Who is going to play defense? I dont think Rubio will be anything in the NBA in MY opinion. Curry will have a future but i see him being more of a smaller version of Kevin Martin. I hope he can run the point but as of now I just dont think he will be able to.

I would keep Lee and Robinson if I was the Knicks. They should get rid of Curry, Jeffries, Sene, Wilcox, or Chris Hunter. But not David Lee !!

nice reference-I think Lee is better than Maz- but the whole
enchillada is you cannot have Lee as your 'best' or highest paid
player on your team......

He is a wonderful complimentary guy- your #3 or 4 guy.....
but when you are a basement dweller like my KNicks are
it is VERY hard to build around 'role' guys.....
you typically ADD these players AFTER you have an established
team- to get you over the hump.....

I want lee to stay as well- but if it can improve out squad- he goes
