Rumors that won't die: the Wild trading with Ottawa for Dany Heatley and signing Montreal free agent Saku Koivu, brother of the Wild's Mikko Koivu. The Koivu rumor is the most logical.

I would say Saku to Minny is a given. But what can the Wild offer for Heater? Burns is next to untouchable, Mikko isn't going anywhere, and who else do they have?

Harding, another player and draft picks.

They'll need a couple of 1st rounders then.

and the Sens traded for their "franchise goaltender" last year when they sent Vermette to Columbus for LeClaire

Will they give up Burns?? or Sheppard??

June 26, 2009  11:39 AM ET

This topic is not really working out, but I have one I have only become interested in over the last few minutes;

Is Sergei Fedorov a Hall of Famer?

and, perhaps the tougher, more unanswerable question is - he has signed with the KHL for the next 2 seasons, as I am sure you are all aware by now, but do those 2 years out of the NHL count as 2 years towards his Hall of Fame eligibility? (I know its doubtful, but...)

I DO have him as a HOFer, by the by

June 26, 2009  11:44 AM ET

Sheppard in a heartbeat. Burns won't be going anywhere, not with his offensive abilities on the blue line.

Without a doubt.

Would he be if he wasnt Russian?

You dont have to play in the NHL to make the hall of fame, so ending his career in the KHL wont hinder him. I dont think he is a lock. He may be one of those borderline players who year after year are on the cusp, but loose out in the end, ie. phil housley.

Um...if he still played the way he did, he'd be a HOFer even if he was Jamaican....or Iranian...are you saying he's only considered Hall of Fame worthy because he's a Russkie, and that pound for pound a Canadian or an American player with exactly the same skills wouldn't be? If so, I'd have to disagree....dude was a monster regardless of what his name was...

they just traded vermette to get Pascal leclaire, who is an EXCELLENT goalie, health issues aside.
The price tag for heater is a bit higher than harding. try again...

June 26, 2009  10:37 PM ET

Bouchard,Sheppard and 1st rounder next year

June 26, 2009  10:38 PM ET

for Heatley and Comrie

AND, he'd also be the #2 line center on the All-time Russian/CCCP team, behind Starshinov, and ahead of Mikhailov, and wow, the same position on the All-time All-European team - the number three center on that team would be Petr Stastny though. Sheetos, that would even be the same on the All-world ( excluding Canada team) - that's until Ussein Bolt learns how to skate, anyway.
