Kidd wants out of Dallas

01:00 PM ET 06.26 | One direction the Mavericks should avoid is re-signing Jason Kidd, who will be a free agent. If people close to Kidd are to be believed, he doesn't want to come back to Dallas. Kidd wants to win a championship and at age 36, he's no longer a franchise player. He's still very good and he did a nice job for the Mavericks last season. But he's not the key player to winning a title, and you can be sure he knows that.

Now J Kidd is thinking!

I seriously doubt that Kidd will accept a backup role. I would guess that's why he wants out of Dallas. A backup role in Orlando might not be a bad idea though.

Come to Miami.. All you need to do is take a pay-cut.. And think you play with Dwayne Wade, Jermaine O'Neal (who is coming back healthy) Michael Beasly, teach Mario

Imagine what you do with D-wade

Yeah it's time to go Dallas is'nt going nowhere they drafted nobody really Mark Cuban messed up by trading D.Harris trying to win a ring fast now there old with no young guns to develop. Would'nt be surprised if Kidd ends up in Clev,Bos,SA,or Orl the chase is on for a ring!!

Back up PG for Orlando, SA,

SA needs to get younger, not older. Picking Jefferson up from Milwaukee in exchange for Thomas, Oberto, and Bowen was a good start. Signing Kidd would be a step backwards.

He should have gone to San Antonio years back when he had the chance instead of resigning with the Nets. He'd have two rings by now, too late Kidd.

Kidd in San Antonio backing up Parker will make the Spurs a deadly threat to the Lakers...

LA might be an option. He will start for the defending champions and Bryant would love to have him on board. Fisher, for all his Finals heroics is a back up at best on most of other teams.

i bet he misses those 3 rings that that could've had with SA...instead they pummeled his NETS in 2003!

Since Boston reportedly wants to jettison Rondo, maybe a PG tandem of Marbury and Kidd can get it done for the Cs.

Marbury won't get it done for any team. He is a cancer!!!

i've been telling my friends since we traded for him that we should not resign him. i fear the mavs might try. i hope jason "most definitely" kidd makes the decision for them and refuses to come back!

CLEVELAND! King Shaqidd

Come to the Lakers. Play for the Veteran's minimum. Mith Kupchak has said that even more important then resigning Odom and Ariza is strengthening the back court. I say if Kidd is serious and just wants to win, then sign for the Veteran Minimum and get hisself a ring. They then won't need to sign Shannon Brown.

Go to lakers! They need a good point guard!!!

June 26, 2009  04:05 PM ET

how about retirement?

Jermaine O'Neal is done. That guy has nothing left. Just like Joaquin Vierra after leaving a hot dog sitting contest. Done...stick a fork in him.

Same thing they said about wade. they said he was the next penny.. and now look what he did this past season. O'Neal is working with Wade's trainer this summer to get his knees healthy
