Danica intrigued by NASCAR move

Two big-time racing circuits, IRL and NASCAR, would benefit greatly from Danica Patrick's presence in 2010. Patrick seems intrigued by the challenge presented by NASCAR. Danica Patrick is not just a driver on the Indy Racing League circuit. She is "a brand." And that brand is . . . She is in the last year of her contract with Andretti Green Racing, and her representatives are entertaining offers.

Ummmmm....1st......

Danica brings the ladies into what ever series she goes with.
A few bruised redneck egos would happen if she came to NASCAR and whupped a few of the boys.

June 27, 2009  09:26 AM ET

Danica will race in the NASCAR series in 2010, current talent pool is limited. Lugano et. al. lack serious image, double lane restarts is the only "excitment" this year and there isn't much more to do with the destruction of the auto industry.
NASCAR will need a diversion next year, Danica may be the key.
Love her or hate her she brings attention.

I predict 40-50 posts on this topic, mostly from guys who will disparage her skills and attitude.

Not one of the dopes that will post would last one lap (in any type of car) trying to catch her, without crapping themselves.

yosemite rex........and you would do fine.......you have already crapped yourself

she couldnt whup cream. This lady is AVERAGE in the IRL....she would be a JOKE in NASCAR, it would be very hurtful in the long run for NASCAR if she went there. Put her in the best car on the track in a NASCAR race and she would finish laps down.
it would be ineviatable that she would stink in NASCAR, then what? if she leaves NASCAR cuz she cant get out of her own way it would give NASCAR a black eye, and I'm sure she would say that the "good ol boys" would/couldnt relate to her. she pulled this same stuff last time her IRL contract was up, it was just a ploy for money then. Lets hope its just a ploy for money again

She will have a large fan following in NAPCAR. It will be fun to watch to of NAPCARs big stars running around a lap or two down in 30th place...Danica and Jr.

June 27, 2009  10:53 AM ET

nascar does need HUGE change tho. The economy, no new stars in years, Dale Jr not competitive, Jeff GOrdon not dominating...
nascar peaked in popularity in the early-mid 1990's. you had jeff gordon coming into his own, the #3 out there, mark martin, rusty wallace, tony stewart breaking in....then.....what?? all we have now is that stupid plow looking COT which makes for horribly boring racing, and that stooge DW and his lame boogity boogity boogity...not to mention digger..nascar needs change bigtime..

This might be the dumbest comment posted so far. Congratulations you have won an award!

Danica and her 'brand' that she brings is exactly what is wrong with NASCAR. It used to be about racing and talent, now it seems to be about increasing viewership through celebrity. Do you think Bobby Allison brought a lot of 'brand' with him? Racing was and is a man's sport, unfortunately NASCAR no longer represents that. Just a bunch of poosays.

Wow, you would think that someone with over 6000 posts would know better than to barge in and call people dopes.

I remember when the ladies started drag racing, we thought the same things, then John Forces kid started beating the best. Danica hasn't won alot, but she's in the top ten finishes enough which means she is beating 20 plus other dudes. I wouldn't mind lapping her myself

June 27, 2009  11:43 AM ET

I look forward to her coming to NASCAR. She'll definitely liven things up off the track. It remains to be seen what she'll do on the track. I'll root for her to do well. That would be good for NASCAR.

June 27, 2009  12:10 PM ET

I think Danica Patrick will only make the move if its guaranteed to make her richer. She commands her own attention in the IRL, and still banks healthy endorsement money despite being in a less popular racing circuit.

If there are corporate sponsors that make her GoDaddy.com money look like chump change, Patrick would almost have to take it--unless she's got other motivations than money. Yep, that still happens.

June 27, 2009  12:41 PM ET

Danica is a good driver in the IRL, a little above average, but she is not killing the competition. Moving to NASCAR I feel would be a bit much for her. 1st the race schedule, 36 races VS. 17. All the personal apperrances. If she does not think that NASCAR would not have her EVERYWHERE, she is crazy. They will pimp her out worse than Stroker Ace was! 2nd, hustling a 3400 lb car around vice 1500 lb car, with half the tire surface that she has now. 3rd, 43 cars per race vs. 20 or 22, alot more traffic to deal with.

Now I am sure I am going to be called a Neanderthal for saying anything against Danica, but the fact of the matter is she is not ready for CUP. She has no time in any kind of car with fenders on them on a race track. I believe this is her trying to drive up her price in the IRL. She did this when she was at Rahal/Letterman and got AGR to pay, now she is doing it to get Gannassi to pony up.

Both NASCAR and Danica would lose if she came in and failed, her rep as a driver would be ruined and NASCAR would look like the money grubbing entity that they are. Just look how long it has taken Montoya to start to emerge and he was a world champion driver. Stay in IRL Danica, you and NASCAR would not like the end result of you coming here.

I don't take gratuitous shots at her every chance I get, ya dumb zunt.

I've raced btw, unlike 99% of the schmucks who post here. How bout Ms Dipshitz?

Bone up on your reading comprehension dude. My intent was to call out the neanderthals who would come here bashing Danica. She's got more talent than a lot of guys already on the Nascar circuit. She's got more talent than me and you and about 1/2 the field for tomorrows race in NH.

These Nascar boards are a bit ridiculous with all the Jr love going going on. Talk about a no talent t-shirt salesman.

BTW, you are a fan of shrubby (as I am), you should be used to being called a dope.

June 27, 2009  03:34 PM ET

I was intriqued by Danica's "moves" last night - ooops not the same subject.

June 27, 2009  05:21 PM ET

I am ok with Danica coming to Nascar,,,,,,but she is not ready for Cup level yet.....she needs to spend time in Nationwide....and then she will be more ready to handle the COT in cup.....one very strong thing in her favor is her passion to win and her refusal to take any krap from anyone.......those important elements are missing in some of my fav drivers......so someone who has that is welcome.
